"Slow down and breathe."
It sounds simple, but according to Heather Fellows, RMT, it's some of the most valuable advice she can give.
In our busy lives, it's easy to get caught up in endless to-do lists, deadlines, and responsibilities. When stress builds, many of us unconsciously hold our breath or take shallow breaths, which can contribute to increased muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, jaw pain, neck and shoulder discomfort, and a heightened sense of anxiety.
Taking a few moments to slow down and focus on your breathing can help calm your nervous system, reduce stress, improve circulation, and allow your body to relax. Deep breathing creates space for both your mind and body to reset.
As a Registered Massage Therapist, Heather often sees the effects of stress and tension stored throughout the body. Through hands-on treatment, she helps release tight muscles, improve mobility, and encourage relaxation, allowing patients to breathe more freely and move with greater ease. Her gentle approach and ability to identify the root cause of discomfort help patients feel better both physically and mentally.
So today, take Heather's advice: pause, unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and take a slow, deep breath. Your body will thank you. π
