June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, knowledge and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

At our PCN, we are committed to listening, learning and taking meaningful action to support culturally safe and respectful care. Through education, partnerships with Indigenous communities, patient advocacy and creating welcoming spaces, we continue our journey toward reconciliation.

Today, and every day, we honour the strength, resilience and enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Indigenous Peoples and reflecting on how we can all contribute to reconciliation in our communities. 👉 Click here for a list of Indigenous History Month events happening in communities across Alberta throughout June: https://bit.ly/indigenous-history-alberta-2026

Men face a lot of pressure within our society to stay strong, carry the weight of others and push through difficult times on their own.

But if you're feeling overwhelmed, noticing signs of anxiety or depression, or pulling away from family and friends, it may be time to reach out for support.

Physical activity supports health and well-being at every age.

💚 For children and youth, it helps build strength, confidence and healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

💚 For adults, it supports heart health, mental well-being and the prevention and management of chronic conditions.

💚 For older adults, it can help maintain mobility, balance and independence.

A Prescription to Get Active (RXTGA) can support people at different ages and stages of life. The program also includes free trial access to participating recreation and fitness facilities, helping individuals and families explore opportunities to be active without immediate cost barriers.

If you’re thinking about becoming more active, for yourself or your family, consider asking your healthcare professional about a RxTGA at your next appointment.

One of the most meaningful parts of family medicine is building long-term relationships and supporting patients through every stage of life. 🩺

Thank you, Dr. Stefanek, for sharing what you love most about working with your patients and for the lasting impact you continue to make.

Q: What do you love most about working with your patients?

A: “Many things! But one fun thing is that some have been with me for over 20 years. I have seen kids grow into adults and go on to have their own families. I’ve had patients go into medicine because they see the important work we do and are inspired by that.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a timely reminder that supporting mental well-being is essential in both our personal and professional lives. It’s an opportunity to reduce stigma, encourage open conversations, and prioritize self-care while also checking in on colleagues, friends, and loved ones. By fostering understanding and compassion, we can help create environments where everyone feels supported and empowered to seek help when they need it. 💚
