Seniors Week was one to remember at AgeCare Bow Crest (Calgary, AB). 🎩

To celebrate Seniors Week, residents embraced a fun hat-themed activity, decorating hats with flowers, bows, and personal touches before wearing them to a special community celebration. The joy of creating was matched only by the excitement of showing off their designs alongside friends and neighbours.

The festivities continued with a performance from a local band, bringing plenty of opportunities to celebrate together.

Overall, Seniors Week was a wonderful reminder of the connections and experiences that make our community so special.

Talent, creativity, and a little friendly competition took centre stage at AgeCare Miller Crossing (Edmonton, AB). 🎤

Earlier this month, team members AgeCare Miller Crossing stepped into the spotlight for a staff talent show, sharing their unique skills with residents and families. From nursing and reception to dietary and leadership team members, the event showcased the many talents that exist beyond day-to-day roles.

Residents and families had the important job of voting for their favourite performances, with Diana, Director of Care, taking home top honours. Congratulations, Diana!

Learning together is an important part of creating meaningful experiences in long-term care.

Recently, the team at AgeCare Wenleigh (Mississauga, ON) participated in their first Imagine Training, exploring new ideas and possibilities for person-centred care. The session encouraged team members to think differently, challenge assumptions, and imagine how small changes can make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and those around them.

By investing in learning and growth, we continue to strengthen a culture where curiosity, innovation, and connection help shape everyday experiences.

Eight years of care, connection, and community. 💙

This month, the team at AgeCare SkyPointe (Calgary, AB) celebrated the community’s 8th anniversary with a simple gesture of appreciation. Muffins were shared with team members across all shifts, recognizing the dedication and commitment they bring each day.

The celebration also marked a special milestone for team members Marlee, Naaz, and Insia, who have been part of the AgeCare SkyPointe community since its opening day. Their journey reflects the relationships, growth, and shared experiences that have helped shape the community over the past eight years.

We are grateful for every team member, resident, family member, and volunteer who has been part of this story. Here's to the connections we've built together and the years ahead.

The FIFA World Cup has been bringing people together across the country, and our communities have been joining in the excitement every step of the way. âš½

At AgeCare Glenwarren (Victoria, BC), residents and team members showed their Canadian pride in red and white as they gathered to watch the action. At AgeCare Willowgrove (Ancaster, ON), residents kicked off the tournament with a spirited Jersey Day. And at Gibson Long-Term Care Residence (North York, ON), residents and staff came together over popcorn and good company to cheer on Team Canada.

As Canada prepares for another match, we're proud to see so much enthusiasm and team spirit across our AgeCare homes.

Earlier this month, AgeCare Royal Oak (Kingsville, ON) took part in the 2nd Annual Kingsville Alzheimer's Walk at Lakeside Park, raising more than $2,800 in support of Alzheimer's awareness and research.

The walk held special meaning as it honoured the memory of Andy, who helped lead fundraising efforts during the inaugural event last year. Spearheaded by PSW Brenda, this year's participation brought together team members & former family members, whose fundraising efforts made a significant impact.

We are proud to see the AgeCare team recognized as one of the event's top fundraisers and grateful to everyone who helped make a difference. Together, we continue to support causes that strengthen our communities and honour the people who inspire us. 💙

Understanding Brain Injury Starts with Awareness

June is Brain Injury Awareness Month — an opportunity to learn and support those living with acquired brain injury.

AgeCare is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Injury Canada / Lésion cérébrale Canada to raise awareness and strengthen supports for those impacted.

More than 1.5 million Canadians are affected by acquired brain injury. While often invisible, its impact on physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being can be significant — not only for individuals, but also for families, caregivers, and communities.
Through this partnership, we’re helping connect residents, families, and caregivers with trusted resources, including:

• Access to brain injury services across Canada
• Caregiver education and training
• Mental health and symptom management supports

At AgeCare, we are committed to fostering understanding and delivering compassionate, informed care. By building awareness and improving access to resources, we can help ensure those living with brain injury receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Together, we can create more informed, inclusive, and supportive environments for everyone.

AgeCare is excited and proud to expand our specialized care services offering with a new complex Mental Health and Brain Injury program at AgeCare Riverview in Medicine Hat, AB.

In partnership with Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) and Recovery Alberta, this program will offer a specialized program within a established beautiful setting.

Earlier this week, Agecare and ALA came together with the amazing Agecare Riverview team to commemorate this important milestone and additional specialized service. This program builds on our growing journey in specialized care services, which began with AgeCare SkyPointe II and Agecare Mount Royal in Calgary.

In the creation of this specialized service, AgeCare has partnered with the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, to develop specialized Brain Injury training for team members across the nation to strengthen our ability to provide compassionate, specialized care for our residents.

Coming together for a good cause is one of the many ways communities make a difference.

Recently, AgeCare Samac (Oshawa, ON) held a 50/50 draw in support of the Alzheimer's Society of Durham. The fundraiser brought residents and team members together while supporting an organization that provides valuable resources and services to individuals and families affected by dementia.

Adding to the excitement, the winning ticket belonged to one of our residents. Congratulations to our lucky winner, and thank you to everyone who participated and helped support this meaningful cause. 💙

Building strong care communities starts with connecting with people who are passionate about making a difference.

Recently, members of our team attended the Seneca Polytechnic Career Fair at York Campus, where they had the opportunity to meet students interested in careers as Personal Support Workers, Laundry Aides, Housekeeping Aides, and Dietary Aides.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about a career with AgeCare. We look forward to connecting with the next generation of team members who are committed to person-centred care.
