It was a beautiful day for the first annual 'Topless' Convertible Car Run! ☀️💕

On Friday, August 7, participants travelled from Tignish to Cavendish for a fun-filled day of drives, camaraderie, and giving back, followed by lunch, prizes, and inspiring speeches. Together, this remarkable group of women raised $5,500 in support of breast cancer care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A special thank you to organizer Connie McInnis and everyone who supported this special event. Your generosity helps make a real difference for Island healthcare! 🧡

THANK YOU, DONORS 🧡🎉 We have exciting news from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Department!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the new CT scanner for the Emergency Department is now on site, bringing us one step closer to faster, safer diagnosis and treatment for patients when it becomes operational. Together, you helped raise an extraordinary $1.3 million to make this transformative project possible.

CT imaging plays a vital role in diagnosing serious illnesses and other time-sensitive medical emergencies. Until now, critically ill patients requiring CT imaging have had to leave the Emergency Department and be transported to Diagnostic Imaging.

Once operational, the new scanner will allow patients to remain in the trauma area where specialized teams, equipment, and life-saving resources are immediately available. This will be especially important for patients experiencing strokes, heart attacks, and other emergencies where every minute counts.

The arrival of the scanner marks a major step forward, and we look forward to the day it begins serving patients and helping healthcare teams provide even more efficient care. Thank you for investing in better emergency care for Islanders. 🧡

"We are beyond thrilled to have this new scanner just next door to our trauma room. The difference will be life-saving, and I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all QEH Foundation donors from all of the staff here at the QEH Emergency Department. It's a game-changer."

It was such a thrill to be at Oyster Bed Speedway last Saturday, taking in the excitement of high-speed racing, classic cars, and community spirit. 🏁

A heartfelt thank you to #78 Jonathan Fitzpatrick and Fitzpatrick Racing, who are donating their race earnings throughout the season to support Pediatric care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and to Fitzpatrick Consulting, who will be generously matching those donations dollar for dollar. 🧡

If you'd like to catch the excitement for yourself, check out the 2026 schedule at https://oysterbedspeedwaypei.ca/schedule/

Last week, we hosted a summer social 'Down by the Bridge' Blackbush Beach Resort in beautiful Grand Tracadie. The gathering offered an opportunity to connect with seasonal residents and Islanders-away and share updates from their hospital away from home, highlighting the impact donor support is making at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Guests enjoyed an insightful armchair chat with Dr. Spencer Brown, QEH Emergency Physician, and Tracey Comeau from the QEH Foundation, highlighting the QEH's ongoing medical equipment needs and clinical priorities. The afternoon also featured engaging conversations, delicious strawberry shortcake, and beautiful fresh-cut flowers grown by our very own Linda Burns.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special gathering. It was a wonderful afternoon of conversation, connection, and community. Whether you're here year-round or returning to the Island each summer, we're grateful for your support and for the shared commitment to strengthening healthcare for Islanders. 🧡
