Happy Natal Day from Priority First Aid โโ Here are our best tips to deal with a heat emergency this summer!
If you suspect you or someone you know is experiencing heat exhaustion, move to a cool, shaded area.
โข Take your hat off, put your hair up
โข Pour water onto a towel, put the wet towel around your neck
โข Use ice to cool down
โข Rehydrate! Drink lots of water, and sip on a sugary drink
โข Stay seated until you start to feel better
๐๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ก๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ฑ๐ก๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea, headache, cool or pale clammy skin.
If things progress past heat exhaustion, heat stroke is a possibility. Do your best to remain calm.
โข Cool down as rapidly as possible by pouring cold water on the person. A cold shower is ideal.
โข Keep the person in a comfortable position, avoid laying flat on the back.
โข Keep trying to hydrate, but cooling the outside of the body is most crucial.
โข Soak towels with cold water to put on their neck, abdomen and legs.

If a person loses consciousness due to heat, call 911. Remain with the person until emergency personnel arrive, and continue trying to cool them down.
