Have you ever practised yoga outside and noticed how different it feels?

The air moves around you. The sounds of nature become part of the practice. Your surroundings seem to invite you to become more present.

On September 26, I will be guiding Yoga in the Blooms at Green Corners, right at the edge of the sunflower fields.

We will share an hour moving and breathing together, followed by time to enjoy the farm and pick some blooms to bring home.

Saturday, September 26 at 2pm

Saturday Self-Care: What helps you feel steady when life starts to get busy?

September often brings a shift in rhythm. Take a few minutes today to choose one thing that helps you feel anchored. It could be a morning stretch, a few quiet breaths before starting your day, or time outside with your feet on the earth.

Creating a grounding practice gives you something familiar to return to as the pace around you changes.

A couple of NEW classes are coming to HYER Shala this fall!

Starting this fall, you can join us Saturday mornings at 8 AM for Hot Yoga. A great way to get on your mat, get moving, and start your weekend feeling amazing.

And coming in October, we’re adding Yoga for Athletes to the schedule!

I’m excited to bring both of these classes to the Shala and give you even more ways to move, strengthen, stretch, and feel good in your body.

Keep an eye on the schedule for a .

Feel Amazing Friday

Today’s Card Pull: “Just be yourself. There is no one better.” — Taylor Swift

Yoga gives us a place to become more comfortable with who we are.

Every body brings something different to the mat. The way you move through a pose, the pace that feels right, and the choices you make during your practice are all part of what makes it yours.

As that connection with yourself grows, so does the confidence to trust what feels right for you beyond the mat.

There is freedom in knowing yourself and allowing that person to shine.

Today, enjoy being exactly who you are.

Thursday Thoughts & Philosophies: Coming Back to Centre

September brings a shift in rhythm. Schedules change, routines return, and our days begin to take on a different shape. Yoga gives us a place to come back to centre and reconnect with what feels steady within.

What helps you feel centred as your rhythm begins to change? Give yourself time to return to it today.

The mind is always moving.

Planning what comes next. Replaying what has already happened. Creating stories about what things mean.

Every once in a while, we become still enough to notice the space underneath all of that movement.

This is what we will explore in BEYOND THE MIND, an eight week meditation journey beginning September 23.

We will take time with thought, emotion, identity and the stories we carry, gradually moving into a deeper experience of awareness and presence.

Who are we beneath all of it?

Wednesdays from September 23 to November 11 at 5:30pm.

Join me in person at HYER Shala or online.

The full series is $150, or you can join individual classes for $20. Registration is by e-transfer to [email protected].

Wednesday WorkIN: Feeling the Shift

What changes are you beginning to notice around you?

September rolls in. Mornings feel a little different, the light begins to shift, and the air carries the first hints of a new season.

Bring that awareness onto your mat today. Feel the temperature of the air against your skin. Notice the quality of your breath and how your body wants to move. Our bodies are constantly responding to the world around us, and paying attention can deepen that connection.

Ask yourself:
How is my body responding to the changing season?

What part of you do you want to carry into the next season?

September fills quickly with school, work, activities and new routines. Before the calendar gets too full, save a place in it for yourself.

REMEMBER YOU is a full day retreat filled with movement, meaningful connection, time outside, nourishing food, laughter and a few special treats.

There will also be space that belongs completely to you. Take your tea outside, lie on the deck, go for a walk, close your eyes or spend time connecting with someone new.

Tuesday Technique: Bakasana (Crow Pose)

Crow Pose is one of those postures that brings together strength, balance, focus, and a little bit of courage.

Begin in a low squat with your hands planted firmly on the mat about shoulder-width apart. Bend your elbows slightly and bring your knees high onto the backs of your upper arms. Shift your weight forward, engage your core, and begin by lifting one foot, then perhaps the other. Keep your gaze slightly ahead of you rather than straight down.

Crow strengthens the arms, wrists, shoulders, and core while challenging balance and concentration. It also gives us an opportunity to build trust in ourselves. Each small shift forward teaches us a little more about where strength and balance meet.

Press firmly through your hands, keep your core engaged, and look forward. Play with the pose at your own pace. Lifting even one foot is part of the practice.

Photo credit: Me! Crow has taught me a lot over the years about curiosity, trust, and being willing to try. Some days we fly, some days we wobble, and every time we learn something.
