A family tradition with a lasting impact ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to the Wiersema family for their incredibly generous $8,000 donation to the Rainy River Health Centre!

This summer, more than 200 members of the Wiersema family gathered for their family reunion — continuing a special tradition that brings generations of family together and celebrates their roots in the Rainy River community.

As part of their reunion, the family holds a one-of-a-kind auction featuring family heirlooms, homemade baking, items crafted by family members and other treasures. This year, their auction raised an incredible $8,000, which they have generously chosen to donate to their hometown hospital.

For a family with such deep roots in the Rainy River area, giving back to local health care was a natural way to honour the community they call home.

We are so grateful to the Wiersema family for turning a family tradition into an incredible act of generosity. Thank you for thinking of the Rainy River Health Centre and for helping make a difference in local health care. 💙

This expansion will help strengthen access to reliable, accessible transportation across the District and improve connections to regional health services. It’s back-to-school for the Rainy River district!🍎 Remember to slow down in school zones, stop for stopped school buses with flashing lights (and stop signs), keep a safe distance between your vehicle and a school bus at all times, never pass a stopped school bus, obey crosswalk laws, and keep your eyes on the road and eyes open for children, bikers and pedestrians.
