AIDS NB/SIDA N-B Providing HIV, Hepatitis C, and STBBI prevention, education, and support initiatives in the province.

AIDS New Brunswick / SIDA Nouveau-Brunswick is a registered charity, membership-driven organization, governed by an elected Board of Directors consisting of subject matter experts, community stakeholders and PLWHIV. The membership consists of clients and volunteers as well as supportive individuals and organizations from the province. The board of directors meets quarterly and an Annual General Membership meeting is held to present an annual report, financial statement, and plans for the coming year. The annual general meeting provides an opportunity to consult with the membership and vote on motions and bylaw amendments.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honor the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never came home, and the families still carrying intergenerational trauma.

As a harm reduction agency, we recognize that our work is deeply tied to reconciliation. Colonial policies, systemic racism, and forced displacement are the root causes of the severe health inequities we see today. The current toxic drug crisis disproportionately impacts Indigenous communities because of this ongoing structural violence.

True reconciliation requires moving beyond symbolic words. It means advocating for culturally safe healthcare, systemic justice, and indigenous-led harm reduction solutions.

🧡 Action item for today: We encourage our community to read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, specifically focusing on the calls to close the gaps in Indigenous health outcomes.
