Somatic Healing with Savanna From one human with lived experience to another with the goal of deepening the relationship with your own innate knowledge and wisdom

My method of somatic healing is intended to offer a deeply personalized approach using intuitive insight that is grounded in knowledge. It is a powerful approach to healing that gets to the root cause with an almost unexpected simplicity and gentleness. Somatic healing addresses pain and discomfort in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual realms. My commitment is to work with you from a pl

ace of non-judgement, with a love and care that fosters an ability to find a path forward that is tailored to and intuitive for you. My hope is that alongside each other, you have an opportunity to deepen or reclaim the relationship you have with your own inner and innate wisdom.

I have deliberated over this question for years. “Where do I start to heal?” The best answer I can come up with is wherever you are, whenever you are ready.

You do have to be ready and willing. Other than that, you just need to know what to do to start. That’s the job of someone like me, to help show you how.

Every single person is unique. Your individual story is yours alone, one of a kind. If and when you’re ready to heal, your pathway through that will be completely individual to you. Some tools will work for you, and some won’t.

But then, once you get into healing, you see how much the same we all are. We all hurt. We all love and lose. We are all afraid of something. We are all holding on to something we don’t know how to let go of.

Start where you are. Just take one step at a time and enjoy the walk.

We are brilliant, strong and resourceful creatures.

We find ways to cope with what we are
dealing with.

There’s nothing wrong with coping, it is a very important and necessary step in the process.
We must cope, until we know a way to heal.

Once we know a way, we must then have the will to walk that way.

Savanna 🖤

Learning how to ground yourself is a really important part of internal stability. Yes, there are lots of ways to ground your body, and they are all very good for you, but it is bigger and deeper than that.

It takes learning emotional regulation, not giving in to every impulse, not letting your mind go too far out there, checking in with reality, and so much more.

Ground your body, root your mind, strengthen your emotional capacity, and feel more peace.

One of the things I have been reflecting on lately is how quickly we can dismiss someone simply because they see the world differently than we do.

We often assume people arrive at their beliefs through logic alone.

But perspectives are shaped by so much more than that.

👉 Upbringing.
👉 Experiences.
👉 Relationships.
👉 Pain.
👉 The environments we’ve lived in.

That doesn’t mean we have to agree with every perspective we encounter.

It simply means we can become curious about how someone arrived there.

Curiosity creates space for understanding.
Understanding creates space for compassion.

And sometimes, compassion allows us to stay connected even when we disagree.

For example, imagine two people who have completely different views on immigration.

One grew up in a community where immigration brought new opportunities, friendships, and cultural richness. Their lived experience taught them to associate it with growth and connection.

The other experienced job loss during an economic downturn and believes immigration contributed to fewer opportunities for local workers. Their lived experience shaped a very different perspective.

Whether either person is right isn’t the point.

The point is that their experiences influenced the way they see the world.

Here is another example.

Imagine two people responding very differently to anxiety.

One grew up in an environment where emotions were talked about openly and asking for support was encouraged.

The other learned that difficult emotions should be hidden and handled alone.

Years later, they may have completely different beliefs about what it means to ask for help.

Those beliefs didn’t appear by accident.

They were shaped by experience.

Before we ask, “How could they possibly think that?”

Perhaps we can first ask,

“What experiences might have led them there?”

One reason being in nature can feel so grounding is because the body recognizes it.

The cycles.
The pauses.
The constant movement and change.

We often think of nature as somewhere we go, but we are part of it too. Our bodies have their own rhythms, seasons, and ways of communicating.

Reconnecting with nature is also a way of reconnecting with ourselves.

It’s interesting how quickly we look outside ourselves for answers.

Sometimes the answer is not out there.

Sometimes it’s in the conversation we’re avoiding with ourselves.

Many of us have spent years living from the neck up.

Thinking.
Analyzing.
Problem solving.

And while the mind is incredibly valuable, there is wisdom in the body too.

Sometimes healing begins when we stop trying to think our way through everything and start paying attention to what we’re feeling.

A surprising amount of energy is spent fighting ourselves.

Wanting one thing.
Doing another.
Knowing something.
Ignoring it.

Perhaps peace is not something we create.

Perhaps it’s what remains when we stop arguing with ourselves.
