Yoga teaches us to get still enough to know when it’s time to move, and this Great Blue Heron on the Full Blue Moon this morning demonstrated exactly that.

This beautiful creature stopped me in my tracks while out for my morning walk. Standing perfectly still at the water’s edge, patiently waiting, fully present.

I watched him for a few minutes before he silently lifted off into the most breathtaking flight.

That’s the practice, isn’t it? On the mat and off it?

On this Full Blue Moon, give yourself a moment to pause. To sit quietly and notice what feels aligned in your life right now, and what doesn’t. Then do one simple, intentional thing that moves you toward what you want, and gently away from what no longer serves you.

Be like the Great Blue Heron — still, patient, present, and ready for right action. 🌕🩵

Most Saturday mornings I start on my yoga mat and finish on the Taekwondo mats

This morning I taught a Vinyasa class anchored in the mantra ‘Yes, I can’, and then went and tested for my black stripe belt alongside my son.

We both passed.

I share this not to impress you, but to remind you of something I truly believe:

You are stronger, smarter, and more capable than you think you are.

Doubt is loud. I know. I feel it too. But on the other side of the thing you are afraid to try is a version of you that is standing a little taller, breathing a little deeper, and smiling because you did it, regardless of the outcome.

So yes, YES YOU CAN do hard things.

A weekend of Yoga and rest with Mother Nature as the backdrop. August 7th to 9th at La Solitude in Memramcook, New Brunswick.

Some practices don’t happen on a mat. They happen in the pauses you gift yourself in everyday life. The moment you stop rushing long enough to notice a brook running under a little bridge, a lady slipper just opening, two tiny ducks going about their morning.

Mother Nature knows this. She never hurries. Yet everything is accomplished.

That is the energy I am bringing to this retreat. Slowing down on purpose. Breathing deeply. Moving mindfully. Eating well. Resting without guilt.

Early bird pricing of $499 + tax ends this Sunday, May 31.

There is something that happens when you give yourself permission to stop responding to the outside world for a bit.

It’s not always easy to do, especially at the beginning. The first few hours, you might find yourself reaching for your phone, or still running through your to-do list. But then something shifts. The quietude feels calming and grounding, and that’s when you realize how much you needed to check out, and check in.

That is what La Solitude gave me the first time I was there as a student in retreat. I found space, and in it, simplicity. A weekend of nothing to do but show up, breathe, sit, listen and ponder.

This August, I am bringing a small group to for exactly that.

Tending Your Fire is a weekend retreat rooted in yoga and Ayurveda. We gather August 7 to 9 in Memramcook, New Brunswick.

Early bird pricing of $499 + tax ends this Sunday, May 31.

After a fun, full and albeit overstimulating day at a Taekwondo tournament today, my body was aching for solace and release. And as much as I just wanted to flop on the couch and veg for the night, first I got on my mat.

All it took was three very simple, floppy and grounding sun salutations, where I hung out in the opening forward fold, lingered in cobra pose to stretch my back, and breathed deeply in child’s pose, I’m feel that much better.

This is what I hope to share through my work. That some days, all you need at the end of a long day is a few minutes with the simple basics, and your whole system shifts.

P.S I placed first in my division. Not bad for a middle aged mom working toward her black belt ;)

When things feel like too much, your senses can bring you back to the moment of right now.

This is the 5-4-3-2-1 practice — a simple grounding technique that works anywhere, anytime. No mat required. No experience needed. Just you, this moment, and a willingness to pause and take notice.

Every Thursday morning I lead a live meditation inside the AUMatHOME Community. Come practice with us, or catch the recordings whenever you can.
