It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Sheila Mary McLaggan (née Forrest) in Calgary, Alberta, on August 19, 2026, at the age of 98 years.

She leaves behind her loving children Gavin (Marlene), Mary Anne Atkinson (Wayne) and John (Jane); her grandchildren Ian, Haley (Paul), Colin (Stephanie), Dale, Tori (Sean), Scott (Alejandra) and Kelsey (Cole); nine great-grandchildren; her first cousin Barry Ritson; niece Janet Wetter and nephew Graham Wetter (Silvana Saccomani); and other cherished extended family in Canada and the UK. Her face always brightened at a visit from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose milestones and mischief brought her endless delight. She was never happier than when surrounded by her growing family.

Sheila was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill in 2012, her mother Annie Forrest (née Ritson) and her father Louis Forrest.

Her Life
Sheila was born on July 23, 1928, in Nanton, Alberta, spending summer holidays at Beacon Ranch south of Fort MacLeod. She attended the University of Alberta, earning a BSc in Household Economics. She had a short career as a District Home Economist — then fate introduced her to Bill while they were both travelling from Calgary to Edmonton on an airplane.

Ross Lee Armstrong of High River, Alberta, passed away with his beloved family by his side on August 5, 2026, at Millrise Seniors Village in Calgary, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Plus. He was 88. Ross is survived by Bev, his loving wife of 64 years; their children, Darrel (Dianne), Diane (Harry), and Gail (Dave); grandchildren Keagan, Cailea, Brittany, Liam (Hope), Mitchel, and Cassie; great-grandchildren Soha, Ehaan, and Muniza; and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Bazil and Gertrude; his brother David and sister-in-law Jean; and his sister Carol Zatelny and brother-in-law Bill.

Ross grew up on a farm in the Stettler area and attended a one-room country school for several years. Riding his horse to school in both winter and summer brought many adventures. After graduating from Stettler High School in 1956, he worked in the oilfields before enrolling in SAIT’s two-year Automotive Mechanic program, where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated in 1960. One highlight of his life was the summer he spent driving a tour bus in Banff for Brewster Sightseeing Tours, an experience that became the source of many wonderful and funny stories. He then moved back to Stettler, began working at Superior Garage, and met the love of his life, Bev.

We sorrowfully announce the peaceful passing of Kay Roselen Blasius (nee Russell) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in Calgary, Alberta. Kay was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend. Kay had a sharp sense of humor, a big heart, and a great laugh. Kay was the aunt or grandma to anyone who needed her to be. Always around to sit on the porch and chat over coffee. Kay often worked in the service and hospitality industry, taking care of others is what she knew best.

Born May 14, 1944 in Chauvin, Alberta to parents Laura & Edward Russell. Kay was the 8th of 9 kids, growing up on their family’s farm and in Canmore, Alberta. Kay was happily married to Bernard Matthew Blasius from July 6, 1964 until his passing November 16, 2017 in Diamond Valley, Alberta. Together, they lived in Calgary, High River, Diamond Valley, and Hartell. Kay is survived by her married children Matthew Blasius and Wendy Vincent, as well as their spouses Trena Ulmer and Dean Vincent. Kay is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa Hynes, Karlee & Joe Davies, Jacey Vincent, and Shelby & Winston Hopp. Kay also leaves behind great-grandchildren Dianna & AJ Davies and Clara & Cullan Hopp. Kay is remembered by her sisters Betty Twitchen (Russell) and Karen Fitzgerald along with many nieces and nephews spanning all Canada and the US.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loving brother Chris, after a rather brief cancer battle.

Chris was born and raised in Calgary, AB. He also worked and lived in Wollongong, Australia and Maui, Hawaii, before settling in Vancouver, BC.

Originally gaining his Executive Chef diploma at SAIT in 1986. He began his career in cooking, rising to Sous Chef and was Head Chef at Valley Ridge Golf Club and Vancouver Golf Club.

Chris successfully ran a café in Surrey, BC, for 18 years, receiving consistent year-after-year 5-star Google ratings and accolades from countless customers and sports and movie celebrities.

Chris had a lifelong love of golf. He won championships with the Fujian Golf Club and he proudly served as caddy for his good friend Grant Lee, when he won the BC Provincial All Abilities Championship in June 2026.

Chris was an incredibly loving, caring, kind and supportive uncle and brother that has left us with countless fun memories.

He wanted to thank all the staff he had over 18 years at his cafe especially his manager of many years Lonnie, his wonderful “daughter” Jenna, and Kelly, Marissa, Jinny, Kyla, Jessica, Lilian and Mary. Chris is appreciative to his many suppliers and customers.

Ms. Leeanne Murray of Calgary, Alberta passed away on August 9, 2026 at the age of 62 years.

Leeanne was the oldest daughter of Bob and Carol Murray. She is survived by her mother Carol; son Brody King; brother Robin (Tania) Murray; Niece Ivy; Nephews Jace Murray and Torin Murray as well as her sister Lorie (Tyler) Miller.

Leeanne started school in Brooks and later they moved to Calgary, De Winton, Okotoks and back to Calgary. She made many school friends who have remained close her entire life.

Leeanne worked for Marlborough Financial for over 30 years. She loved camping, cooking, gardening, her dogs and she always wanted horses.

Leeanne was loved and will be greatly missed. She left us far too soon.

No services will be held.

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Alison Isabel Collis (née Cameron) on 10 August 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on 12 June 1942, Alison will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Hilton; her sons, John (Katherine) and Tim (Christine); and her grandsons, Samuel, Matthew, Aiden, and Carter as well as many nieces and nephews. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Alison grew up on a farm in Ormond, New Zealand, before training as a nurse in Christchurch. In 1964, she boarded a ship bound for London, embarking on an adventure that would change the course of her life. It was there that she met her lifelong partner, Hilton.

Together, Alison and Hilton spent the next five years between London and Libya as a young couple before immigrating to Canada and settling in Southern Alberta. They first made their home in Stavely before settling in Nanton, where they built their life together and remained for the rest of Alison’s life bar a brief return to New Zealand from 1981 to 1983.

Alison worked as a nurse and administrator in Claresholm for most of her career.

Alison was a firecracker in every sense of the word. She had no filter, was never afraid to speak her mind, and you always knew exactly where you stood with her. She was fiercely independent, full of character, and loved dearly by her family and many friends.

Doris Marie Gordon (née Hollihan) passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at High River Hospital at the age of 88.

Doris was born on the family homestead in Goddard, Alberta. She was the youngest of eight children and grew up on a farm in the Foremost area. Life on the farm was hard work, but Doris often shared how much she loved her family and the time they had together.

As a young woman, Doris was active in Girl Guides and excelled in school sports, especially basketball. She attended one year of nursing school before completing a textiles program at SAIT.

In 1962, Doris married Les Gordon, and together they built a family. She became an instant mother to four children, later welcoming Wyann in 1963 and Glenn in 1964.

Doris was a proud member of the Royal Purple and was an avid curler. In 1970, she and her family moved to Banff, where she worked at the Banff Credit Union. They later moved to Calgary, where she continued her career with First Calgary Financial. After retiring, Doris and Les spent time in Vernon, British Columbia, before returning to Calgary to be closer to their family and grandchildren. Never one to stay idle, Doris returned to work at the credit union and continued until she was 75.

In 2006, Les and Doris moved to High River to be closer to their family. During this time, Doris became deeply involved in her church community, faithfully attending services and Bible study. She found a renewed sense of purpose and dedicated...

Mrs. Marion Nelson, beloved wife of Mr. Ole Nelson, entered heaven peacefully at Tudor Manor, Okotoks on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 93 years.

Marion was born near Weldon, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1933. She was raised by loving parents during a difficult era of depression and war time. Her father, being a church pastor, meant that she had to relocate many times during her life. She attended school in Claresholm AB, Prince Rupert BC, and Burnaby BC, graduating high school in 1946. She moved with her parents to Edmonton, AB and had her first job as a secretary. After a few years the family moved back to Surrey, BC where Marion continued to do secretarial work for Canada Safeway and Ford Motor Co.

Mom met Ole Nelson around 1954 through mutual friends and kept in touch. They married on October 10, 1964. After driving across Canada and the US for a honeymoon, they first lived in Medicine Hat, AB. Heavy construction work meant more moving in trailer camps in Northern Alberta and the NWT. Their son Neil was born in Peace River, AB and their second son Wesley was born in Edmonton, AB. Mom stayed home in Edmonton to raise her boys, with her mother staying with them for several years.

She loved the Lord with all her heart and after being convicted by the Holy Spirit after one of her Father’s sermons, she gave her heart and life to Jesus. We know that she is safe...
