Kenora Chiefs Advisory is an alliance of independent, participating First Nations and has been incorporated and in operation since 1995. We provide programs and services to the First Nations in the fields of health, education, and social services in a holistic and traditional way that ensures the survival of the Anishinaabe way for present and future generations.

We’re Celebrating a Milestone!

The boards of Ogimaawabiitong - Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA) and Lake of the Woods District Hospital have approved the Campus of Care Master Site Plan, an important step in bringing to life a shared vision for health, wellness, and development on the 126-acre Lakeview Drive site.

The plan confirms the locations of key foundational components, such as Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care, the 30-acre site designated for the new hospital, the main road and infrastructure corridor, and two future dock locations.

Beyond its health and wellness components, the Campus of Care is envisioned as a catalyst for broader community and regional development. Future opportunities for housing, staff and visitor accommodations, hotel development, retail, commercial services, and other complementary uses will help create a connected and accessible campus while supporting workforce recruitment and retention, local and Indigenous business development, job creation, and long-term economic growth. Together, these elements will contribute to a vibrant, sustainable destination that serves patients, families, employees, visitors, and communities throughout the region.

We’re looking forward to coming together for a day of visiting, sharing, and remembering.

Come spend some time with us. Bring your family and enjoy ogiimashimo songs, stories, dancing, and laughter! The day starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon.

We hope to see you at the Seven Generations Event Center on Veterans Drive on Oct. 26.

Guidelines have recently changed for breast and colon cancer screening, lowering the recommended starting age to 40 for breast and 45 for colon.

We are saddened by the recent loss of Garnet Ross, a dedicated former Kenora Makwa Patrol worker who always had time to assist patrons on and off shift, even as his own health was declining.

Garnet believed in giving to the community, and he was a great colleague. He will be missed.

We wish Garnet the best on the next stage of his journey.

Alert: The Northwestern Health Unit received reports of 5 drug poisonings in the Kenora area on Sept. 10. Multiple doses of naloxone are needed, and they are not always effective. Medical attention is required.

Ogimaawabiitong - Kenora Chiefs Advisory can be contacted by its affiliated communities for access to naloxone kits, as well as training on administering naloxone.

What services are available at the Kenora Youth Wellness Hub for people aged 12-25?

Here are just a few: showers and hygiene items, meals and snacks, pantry support, and counselling. The hub can make tough days much easier!

Drop in if you're in the age range - and if you aren't please send this to someone who is.

Kenora Makwa Patrol has been taking care of people on the streets for six years, and you are warmly invited to celebrate its anniversary with us on Sept. 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

A light lunch will be served at Makwa's Satellite Office right beside the self-cleaning washroom at the corner of First Street South and Chipman Street.
