One of the most common patterns I see in women with thyroid issues…

is chronic over-functioning.

Women carrying:
the emotional load
the mental load
the responsibility
the home
the relationship
the invisible labour
everyone else’s needs

…while slowly disconnecting from themselves in the process.

And often?

They’re not expressing how overwhelmed they really are.

Not because they’re weak.

Because somewhere along the way they learnt:
it’s easier to just do it themselves
having needs creates friction
asking for help leads to disappointment
keeping quiet keeps the peace

So they over-function instead.

And over time…

the body carries the pressure too.

This is the part I think is missing from so many thyroid conversations.

Because yes:
nutrition matters
supplements matter
labs matter

But so does:
how you communicate
how much you carry
whether you feel supported
whether your body ever truly gets to exhale
whether your needs exist in your own life too

And no —
this isn’t about blaming women.

It’s about helping them see the pattern clearly enough to finally change it.

Because awareness changes everything.

Sometimes symptoms are not just dysfunction.

Sometimes they are protection.

Protection from:
- slowing down
- disappointing others
- feeling buried emotions
- setting boundaries
- finally acknowledging exhaustion

The body and nervous system are deeply connected.

And healing often requires more than just “fixing” the physical body.

It may also require safety.
Honesty.
Boundaries.
Support.
And learning to stop abandoning yourself.

If this resonated, let me know what landed most ❤️

Your body is intelligent.

And sometimes symptoms are not just dysfunction…

they are protection.

I see this constantly with women navigating:
- thyroid issues
- burnout
- anxiety
- exhaustion
- chronic depletion

Women who:
- hold everything together
- over-function for everyone else
- suppress what they really feel
- struggle to receive support
- and only allow themselves to rest when their body forces them to

Eventually the nervous system starts communicating through the body.

Not because your symptoms are imagined.

But because the body and psyche are never separate.

This is why healing often requires more than:
• supplements
• protocols
• “perfect” diets
• trying harder

Your body may also need:
• safety
• honesty
• boundaries
• emotional processing
• support
• permission to exist beyond survival mode

And THAT is the layer many women have never been guided through.

If this resonated deeply, let me know what landed most ❤️

Most women with thyroid issues aren’t weak.

They’re carrying too much.

Too much pressure.
Too much responsibility.
Too much emotional load.
Too much survival mode for too long.

And after years of functioning this way…

many women don’t even realise how disconnected they’ve become from themselves.

From:
> their needs
> their body
> their limits
> their truth
> their capacity

So they keep:
> pushing
> over-giving
> holding everything together
> trying to be “good”
> trying not to disappoint anyone

…and eventually the body adapts around that.

Not because it’s broken.

Because it’s overwhelmed.

This is why so many women:
eat well
take the supplements
“do everything right”

…and still don’t feel like themselves.

Because healing isn’t just physical.

🌷Your nervous system matters too.

🌷Your emotional state matters too.

🌷The life you’re living matters too.

🌷And healing changes when you stop asking:
“What supplement do I need?”

👉🏼…and start asking:
“What is my body trying to tell me?” 🫶🏻

Most women with thyroid issues aren’t lazy.

They’re overloaded.

Physically.
Emotionally.
Mentally.
Energetically.

And many were never taught:
how to rest
how to receive
how to have needs
how to disappoint people
how to stop over-functioning
without guilt.

So the body adapts.

👉 through fatigue
👉 burnout
👉 anxiety
👉 symptoms
👉 exhaustion

Not because your body is failing you.

But because it’s trying to get your attention.

And the empowering part?

If your patterns helped create the imbalance…
then new patterns can help create healing too.

This is why healing is never just about supplements.

It’s also about:
Learning to stop abandoning yourself
Feeling safe to have needs
Telling the truth about how overwhelmed you really are
Creating a life your body no longer has to fight to survive in
and finally including yourself in your own life.

Women make up 80% of all autoimmune cases.

Say what?! Yep, you read that right.

While the reasons for this are complex and multifaceted, it’s essential to acknowledge the unique challenges women face and take steps to support our bodies holistically.

Let me help you with where to start your healing journey—or even to reduce your risk of developing an autoimmune condition:

🌸 Include Yourself in the Love You Give to Others: Prioritise self-care as much as you care for others.
🌸 Use Your Voice: Speak your truth, including with yourself. Pushing it down is disrupting harmony in your system.
🌸 Set Healthy Boundaries: With others and with yourself—boundaries are essential for emotional and physical health.
🌸 Nourish Your Nervous System: Find ways to calm and support your nervous system throughout the day.
🌸 Heal Your Gut: Address infections and optimise gut function—your gut is central to so many systems in your body.
🌸 Reduce Your Toxin Load: This goes beyond chemicals. Evaluate your relationships and environments to identify where you might be taking on toxic energy.
🌸 Emotional Healing: This is a key part of addressing the root cause. It’s not a quick fix, but with time, consistency, and the right support, it can lead to profound healing.
🌸 Include Rest, Play, Joy, and Connection: These are not luxuries—they’re necessities for a balanced, healthy life.

Healing from an autoimmune condition requires a multifaceted approach that honours your whole being — body, mind, and spirit. 🌱

What if your thyroid condition is more than just a health issue?

Could it be guiding you to uncover deeper parts of yourself needing love, reminding you of your inner power, or pushing you toward the version of you that you are becoming?

When I was first diagnosed (over 10 years ago now), I was scared and wondered why this was happening “to me”. But eventually, I realised that this was a disempowering thought and decided to reframe it to, “what is this situation trying to teach me and guide me toward?”

My thyroid condition has been one of my greatest teachers and guides—guiding me toward more self-love, finding my voice, setting boundaries, discovering my passion and purpose, and harnessing my internal power.

✨ Perhaps you might like to get curious and explore how your thyroid condition might be your greatest teacher on the path toward a deeper truth within you.
