A look inside. πŸ’™

We offer a music room that is accessible to our clients. We believe music has a way of reaching us when words can't.
It can calm the mind, reduce stress, lift our mood, and help us process emotions in a healthy way.

Our music room serves as a reminder to our clients that healing isn't only about getting sober, it's about finding joy again.

What does recovery look like to you? People often picture recovery as counselling sessions and meetings.

At Thorpe, recovery often looks like:
β˜• Morning coffee.
🍽️ Shared meals.
🎲 Games and laughter.
🚢 Walks outside.
πŸ’™ Staff who genuinely care.

While we offer intensive programming to our clients, we recognize that healing can happen in the little moments, too.

Hosting gatherings while supporting someone in recovery doesn't have to be complicated.

Instead of:
""Just one won't hurt.""

Try:
""Can I get you something to drink?""
""We've got lots of non-alcoholic options.""
""I'm glad you're here.""

Sometimes feeling included is the greatest gift.

September is Recovery Month, a time to recognize the courage it takes to ask for help and celebrate every step forward.

Please don't think that recovery is about perfection, instead realize it is about choosing yourself, one day at a time. Whether you're taking your first step or have years of sobriety behind you, every day is worth celebrating.

You are never alone. We are here.

As summer begins to wind down, it's a good time to reflect on the progress you've made.

Recovery is often measured in small moments that can be easy to overlook. Showing up for yourself, building healthy routines, asking for help, trying again after a difficult day, or simply continuing to move forward all matter.

Progress does not always happen in big, life-changing moments. More often, it is built through consistent choices made day after day.

As we head into a new season, remember to give yourself credit for how far you have come and focus on the next step ahead.

Last Thursday, we gathered for the Thorpe Recovery Centre Annual General Meeting β€” a chance to reflect on the past year, recognize the people who make our work possible, and look ahead to the future.

Our staff shared a presentation on the important role of a Recovery Coach, giving our members a closer look at the support and guidance provided throughout the recovery journey.

We were also proud to recognize several incredible team members for their years of service:

πŸ‘ Vera β€” 10 years
πŸ‘ Mona β€” 15 years
πŸ‘ Eva β€” 5 years
πŸ‘ Cece β€” 5 years
πŸ‘ Kaitlyn β€” 5 years

We also said a heartfelt thank you to several long-serving Board members who are stepping down. Marie has served for 18 years, Gary for 10 years, Randy for 10 years, and Marty for 6 years.

On behalf of the Membership, Board, staff, volunteers and clients of Thorpe Recovery Centre, thank you for your time, expertise and unwavering dedication. Your countless hours of service have helped advance our mission and create positive change in the lives of those affected by addiction.

Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of the Thorpe Recovery Centre community. We are grateful for your support and commitment to recovery. πŸ’™

Many people enter treatment feeling nervous, uncertain, or isolated. The good news is that recovery is not something you are expected to do alone.

At Thorpe, clients have access to staff support, peer support, programming, and a community of people who understand the challenges that can come with recovery.

Connection is an important part of healing, and support is available every step of the way.

We are excited to have Jess Tetu join us for our Her Strength, Her Story event on Thursday, October 1st.

Jess's journey is a testament to resilience and courage in the face of adversity. From an early age, she encountered the challenge of providing support and love to someone struggling with addictions. Leaving home at a young age, she managed to complete high school independently and eventually purchased Just For You Day Spa. She shares intimate details surrounding the way mental health and addictions impacted her life. Her story is deeply relatable and an inspiring reminder that success is within reach, no matter the obstacles life presents.

Tickets are on sale now! Grab your spot before they sell out.
