Lorette Marie Boisvert

It is with deep sadness that the family of Lorette Marie (Richard) Boisvert announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Percy's Place, at the age of 88.

Lorette was born in Acadieville, New Brunswick, to the late François and Angéline (Richard). She was the cherished wife of the late Francis Boisvert, with whom she shared many years of love and devotion.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory, including her children: Odette (Gary), Mark, Reggie (Shawn), Gerard (Cheryl), Jo-Anne (Allan), and Conrad (Katherine). She was predeceased by her sons, Jarvis and Daniel, and is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Arlene, the wife of her late son Daniel.

Lorette was a proud grandmother to Charlene, Kelly, Courtney, Gregory, Jarret, Jory, Haley, Holly, Heidi, Daniel, Chad, Jacob, Josh, Lucas, and Logan. She also delighted in her role as great-grandmother to Dexter, Sadie, Gavin, Kasen, Avia, Acre, Rhys, Alex, and Allen, each of whom brought her immense joy.

She is survived by her sisters, Ozelie (Boudreau) and Merina (Hachey); her sisters-in-law, Iris Richard, Anne Marie Richard, and Jeannie McMullin; her brother-in-law, Ronnie Barrieau; along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

In addition to her husband and sons, Lorette was predeceased by her brothers, Laurie Richard and Jean Richard; her sisters, Baby Marie, Angela Beaulieu, and Julie Anna Barrieau; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Boudreau, Larry Hachey, Gary McMullin, and Tony Beaulieu.

Lorette will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness, and the warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her and in the many lives she touched.

May she rest in eternal peace.

A Message from New Brunswick Remembers

When we took over this page in November 2025, we knew we had a big responsibility. What we didn't expect was some of the challenges we would face along the way.

Sharing community announcements should be about honouring lives and supporting grieving families. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that it wasn't always that simple. We encountered copyright complaints over photos, including one instance where a local funeral home reported us to Facebook for using a photo that the family had given us permission to use. Thankfully, we had documented permission from the family, and Facebook removed the warning after we provided the necessary information.

That experience changed the way we operate.

Because funeral announcements are often time-sensitive, we needed a way to share them quickly while respecting copyright and protecting the page. That's why we began creating themed memorial graphics using AI instead of using personal photographs without clear written permission.

It wasn't our first choice—it was the practical choice.

Whenever a family provides us with written permission to use a loved one's photograph, we are always happy to do so. We understand, however, that asking grieving families for written permission isn't always possible during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Over the past several months, we've continued to learn, adapt, and improve. The encouraging comments we've been receiving about our themed memorial graphics give us hope that we're moving in the right direction.

Are we perfect?

No.

But every single day, we strive to honour those who have passed with dignity, compassion, and respect while serving communities across New Brunswick.

Thank you for making New Brunswick Remembers a part of your daily life. Whether you've followed us from the beginning or just recently joined us, your support, encouragement, and kindness mean more than you know.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic motor vehicle collision involving two of our paramedics and the patient in their care.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Out of respect for those involved and their loved ones, we ask that our community honour those affected without speculation, but instead with compassion and patience as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

We appreciate all of the outreach from the community. Our focus is on the families, friends, and colleagues of those who have been impacted by this tragedy. Our thoughts are also with the driver involved in the collision and their family during this difficult time.

Tyrelle Joseph Joe of Esgenoôpetitj, New Brunswick, passed away on July 5, 2026, at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 28.

Born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, he was the beloved son of Brian Francis and Bernadette Joe.

Tyrelle will be remembered for the many friendships he built and the love he shared with his family and community. His kind spirit and the bonds he formed with those around him left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, Tyrelle is lovingly remembered by his brother, Derek Joe (Angelina S.); his sister, Maxine Joe (Steven L.); his maternal grandmother, Rebecca Joe; his paternal grandmother, Marlene Francis; his cherished niece and nephew, Aura Joe and Blair Steven Joe; along with his many aunts, uncles, cousins, godparents Nancy Lebreton and Hayward Larry, and countless friends who considered him family.

He also leaves behind his close circle of friends, affectionately known as "the bros": Trey Bonnell, Isayah Francis, Brady Mitchell, Stephen Joe, Rufus Mazerolle, Carson Denny, Shameron Mitchell, Samuel Thibedeau, and Dustin Augustine, as well as dear friends Roxanne Smith, Terrilynn Mazerolle, Emma Taylor, and Lexi Bonnell.

Tyrelle was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Bartibogue; his paternal grandfather, Matthew Francis; his uncle, Jonathan Joe; and his close friends Wade Taylor, Tyrelle Augustine, and Neil Linkletter.

New Brunswick Remembers extends its heartfelt condolences to Tyrelle's family, friends, and the entire Esgenoôpetitj community during this difficult time. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Joseph "Joey" Ambrose Woods of Whitney, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Percy's Place on July 4, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born in Chatham, he was the beloved son of Adrian and Elizabeth (Young) Woods.

Joey built a respected career as an instrumentation technician and electrician, working for Heath Steele Mines, Brunswick Mine, and Arbec. He took great pride in his trade and valued the friendships he made throughout his working years.

Above all else, Joey's greatest accomplishment was his family. He shared 27 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Allison, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was also an incredibly proud father to his daughter, Emily, taking great pleasure in teaching her life's many lessons and watching her grow into a confident, independent young woman.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Allison (Richard) Woods of Whitney; his daughter, Emily Woods (Colby Regan) of Strathadam; his parents, Adrian and Elizabeth Woods of Craigville; sisters Deborah Woods (Brian Daley) of Douglasfield, Maureen Woods of Taiwan, and Kim Humphrey (Jason) of Fredericton; his father-in-law, Ernie Richard (Tina) of Baie-Sainte-Anne; his brother-in-law, Darren Richard (Lorie) of Chaplin Island Road; along with nieces Jayme (Cole), Renee, and Olivia (Aaron), and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Joey was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Richard.

Rita Margaret (Harris) Walls
1935 – July 2, 2026

The Blackville community is mourning the loss of Rita Margaret (Harris) Walls, beloved wife of the late Boyd Walls, who passed away at Miramichi Hospital on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born in Gray Rapids, New Brunswick, Rita was the daughter of the late Willard and Ruby (Jardine) Harris.

Education was the cornerstone of Rita's life's work. After graduating from Teacher's College in 1955 with a Secondary Program qualification, she began her teaching career in one-room schools in Bartholomew, South Nelson, and Doaktown before joining the staff at Blackville High School. Over a distinguished 31-year career, she inspired generations of students, primarily teaching English Literature and History.

Never one to stop learning herself, Rita continued her education while teaching, earning both a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Thomas University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick.

Beyond the classroom, Rita devoted herself to her community. She served six years as a councillor for the Village of Blackville, including three years as Deputy Mayor. She was also actively involved with the Blackville Historical Society and the Meals on Wheels program.

Retirement marked the beginning of another chapter of service. Rita worked as Local Program Director for NBCC and taught in the GED program, helping adults achieve their educational goals.

Rita embraced life with enthusiasm. She enjoyed travelling throughout Canada and abroad, visiting destinations including England, Ireland, Greece, Cuba, Alaska, and many locations across the United States. In later years, she especially treasured trips closer to home, with St. Andrews, New Brunswick, holding a special place in her heart. She also found joy in knitting, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends from the OGC (Old Girls Club).

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Kim, Shannon (Paul) Delaney, Darren, Maria (Timmy) Jardine, and Jaime; her grandchildren: Colin, Brandie, Patricia, Erin, Jordyn, Mark, Zachary, and Dalton; her great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Max, Claire, Cole, Levi, Bennet, Avery, Westyn, Jema, Lainey, and Knox; step-grandchildren Miko and Rebecca; their children, Harvey and Jensen; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, former students, and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Boyd, Rita was predeceased by her dear friend Lewis Donahue; her brothers Hiram, Rex (Leanne), Paul, and Keray; and her great-grandson, Dallas.

Rita Margaret Walls will be remembered as a dedicated educator, respected community leader, lifelong learner, and loving mother and grandmother. Her commitment to education and her kindness touched countless lives, leaving a legacy that will continue through the many students, family members, and friends whose lives she enriched.

May she rest in peace.

Joseph "Darrell" Metallic
1963 – June 30, 2026

The community of Esgenoopetitj is mourning the passing of Joseph "Darrell" Metallic, who passed away at his home on June 30, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Darrell was the son of the late Thomas and Barbara (Barnaby) Metallic.

He leaves behind his children, Louise Joe (Malcolm), Casey Metallic (Lenwood), and Daryl Metallic (Hope), all of Esgenoopetitj. He is also survived by his siblings: Pauline Tucker (Paul), Sheila Somerville (Allister), Sharon Francis (Norman), Keetha Metallic, Merle Metallic, Thelma Augustine (Troy), Calvin Barnaby (Lorraine), Lindsay Metallic (Connie), Randell Metallic, and Vernon Mitchell (Bernie), all of Esgenoopetitj.

Darrell will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Shylene Larry, Chyra Francis, Darnell Mitchell, and Hailey Larry, along with many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was predeceased by his children, Crystal Francis and Curran Metallic; his nephews, Carmen Metallic, Brent Barnaby, and Jordan Metallic; and his great-great-niece, Jemma.

May Joseph "Darrell" Metallic be remembered for his hard work, his love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Bert Joseph Matchett
December 7, 1951 – June 29, 2026

The Miramichi community is mourning the passing of Bert Joseph Matchett, who passed away at Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 29, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on December 7, 1951, Bert was the son of the late Howard and Mary Clara (Daigle) Matchett.

During his working years, he lived in Toronto, Ontario, where he spent many years with Birsay Mesh. After retiring, he relocated to Saint John, New Brunswick, where he worked at Fundy Linen while also operating his own appliance repair business, Top Notch Repairs. Following his retirement from both roles, he returned to his hometown of Miramichi.

Back home, Bert continued serving his community as a driver with the local Mat Bus Transit service for several years.

Bert leaves behind his beloved wife, Doreen (Barrieau) Matchett; his daughters, Brenda LeBlanc (Sheldon) of Saint John, New Brunswick, and Tabatha Walker of Roanoke, Virginia; his son, Burt Matchett of Miramichi; his sisters, Joan LeBlanc (Blair) of Saint John, Joanne Bechard (Raymond), Terry Arsenault (Joe), and Maryann Matchett (Jeanne), all of Miramichi; his brothers, Herbie Matchett (Sheila) of Ontario and Alton Matchett (Diane) of Miramichi; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bert was predeceased by his sisters, Florence, Marie, and Delima, and by his brothers, Arnold, Howard, John, and Ernie.

May Bert Joseph Matchett be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community. Rest in peace.
