Disability inclusion is both a human rights obligation and an economic imperative. The National Disability Network’s (NDN) Disability Agenda aims to turn Canada’s commitments into measurable outcomes. 🌱
L'Arche Canada is a member of the NDN to advance our shared mission in disability inclusion. During National AccessAbility Week, the NDN is identifying advocacy priorities for the next three years through our joint Disability Agenda.
The agenda calls on the Government of Canada to:
➡️ Make the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) law in Canada
➡️ Modernize federal disability program eligibility
➡️ Adopt a government-wide disability inclusion policy
➡️ Strengthen and sustain the Canada Disability Benefit
➡️ Advance accessible, inclusive housing and employment
The Government of Canada has established strong policy and legislative foundations through the Accessible Canada Act and Disability Inclusion Plan. However, many systemic barriers remain.
