Sometimes people think therapy is only for when things are really bad.

But honestly, therapy can be helpful long before you hit that point.

It can be a space to work through anxiety, low mood, burnout, relationship stress, trauma, identity, life transitions, or even just that feeling of being a bit stuck and not totally sure why.

You also don’t need to come in with the perfect words or a clear explanation of what’s going on. A lot of the work is figuring that out together.

If something has been taking up more space in your life than you want it to, that’s enough of a reason to reach out.

We’re currently welcoming new clients through both our full practice and student practice at Harris Psychotherapy. 🌿

We’re so excited to welcome Fiona to the Harris Psychotherapy team. 🤍
Fiona works with teens and adults who may be navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, disordered eating, addictions, major life transitions, or simply feeling stuck in patterns that are no longer serving them.

Her approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. Drawing from Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused work, CBT, DBT-informed skills, ACT, and IFS, Fiona creates space for clients to feel understood while supporting meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that feels right for them.

At Harris Psychotherapy, we believe therapy should feel human, welcoming, and grounded in who you are — and Fiona brings that beautifully to her work.
Welcome to the team, Fiona. We’re so glad you’re here. 🌿
Fiona is now accepting new clients. Reach out to [email protected] or visit www.harrispsychotherapy.org

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

This is one of those days where I think it is important to be really clear: talking about su***de does not make things worse. Asking directly, listening without judgement, and helping someone connect with support can genuinely matter.

If you are struggling, or you are worried about someone in your life, there are supports available here in Niagara and across Canada.

In Canada, you can call or text **9-8-8** for su***de crisis support, 24/7. Niagara Health also lists **COAST at 1-866-550-5205** for immediate crisis support and connection to local mental health services.

Locally, **Distress Centre Niagara** provides 24/7 confidential crisis and distress support:
St. Catharines / Niagara Falls: **905-688-3711**
Port Colborne / Wainfleet: **905-734-1212**
Fort Erie: **905-382-0689**
Grimsby / West Lincoln: **905-563-6674**.

For children and youth under 18, Niagara Health also lists **Pathstone Crisis Support Services at 1-800-263-4944**.

And if you are not in immediate crisis, but you know you need some support, Harris Psychotherapy offers a **free 20-minute consultation** to help you figure out what kind of support might fit. You can book that directly online at **harrispsychotherapy.org**.

You do not have to wait until things are unbearable to reach out. 💚

A wee practice update — we’re very happy to welcome **Madeleine Chu, RP (Qualifying)** to Harris Psychotherapy 🌿

Madeleine works with clients ages 16+ and brings a really thoughtful, grounded approach to therapy. She supports people navigating things like anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, adoption-related experiences, burnout, depression, and self-esteem concerns.

Her style is trauma-informed, collaborative, and practical. She makes space to understand what’s been shaping you, while also helping you build tools that can actually support you in day-to-day life. She also has experience supporting youth and families, adoptees, and people who have experienced gender-based violence.

What I like about Madeleine’s approach is that it doesn’t feel overly clinical or one-size-fits-all. She really focuses on fit, understanding the person in front of her, and creating a space that feels respectful and supportive.

Madeleine is **currently accepting new clients virtually across Ontario**, with evening and weekend availability.

If you’re curious about whether she might be a good fit, you can book a **free 20-minute consultation** through **harrispsychotherapy.org**.

Labour Day always feels like that little line between summer and everything starting up again.

For a lot of people, September means back to school, busier work schedules, new routines, packed calendars, and a lot more to keep track of all at once.

That can feel exciting. It can also feel overwhelming.

So heading into this next season, a wee reminder that you do not have to do all of it perfectly. Routines take time to settle, transitions can be tiring, and needing a bit more support does not mean you’re doing anything wrong.

Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or just someone whose life gets a lot busier in September, be gentle with yourself as things shift.

Wishing everyone a restful Labour Day and a smoother start to the school year. 🌿

A wee update from Harris Psychotherapy 🌿

We’re currently welcoming some new clients into the practice, both with our full clinical team and through our Student Community Wellness Clinic.

One of the things that’s been really important to me as the practice has grown is making sure there are different ways for people to access good psychotherapy. For some people, that means working with one of our registered clinicians. For others, cost can be a huge barrier, and our student practice gives people another option with closely supervised student therapists and much more accessible fees.

There’s no pressure to know exactly what you need before reaching out either. Sometimes the first step really is just having a conversation and figuring out what might be a good fit.

We offer a free 20-minute consultation, and you can learn a bit more about both sides of the practice at **harrispsychotherapy.org**.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, you’re very welcome to reach out. 💚

I can't believe that we've now been officially open for 5 years! A lot has changed in the past five years, including the expansion of our practice to a team of psychotherapists, social workers, and registered nurses. We've also introduced a new student practice to support our community in different ways!

We wanted to share with you how we work, how we do the work, what we offer, and how to become a client/how to refer to our practice! If you would like to rsvp and attend, please email [email protected] to confirm your spot and join us!

New Student Community Wellness Clinic!

At Harris Psychotherapy, we believe that mental health support should be a right, not a privilege. We are proud to officially introduce the Student Community Wellness Clinic—a dedicated space for accessible, high-quality therapy.

The Model
Our clinic is staffed by Student Psychotherapists-in-Training who are completing their advanced clinical hours. Every session is conducted under the close supervision of our senior Registered Psychotherapists, ensuring you receive the same standard of care you expect from our practice.

The Fee Structure
To support our community, we utilize a geared-to-income model. Your session fee is determined by your annual household income, allowing us to provide sustainable care for everyone:

Standard: $100 per session

Supported: $50 per session

Community: $20 per session

Access: Free (for those experiencing significant financial hardship)

Why Choose the Student Clinic?
By choosing our Student Community Wellness Clinic, you aren’t just accessing affordable care—you are working with clinicians who bring fresh academic insights, deep empathy, and a passion for the work.

How to Book
We’ve made the process simple and discreet. Visit our website to view our income declaration guide and book your initial consultation.
