Fathers Day can be a very difficult day for those affected by addiction.
For some, addiction has created distance and separation between you and your children. For others, you may have a father who is struggling with addiction. Some fathers have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a child to addiction, and some children are grieving the loss of their father.
Days like Fathers Day can bring up deep emotions, painful memories, shame, guilt, and unanswered questions.
At New Life, we want every father, every child, and every family member affected by addiction to know this: THERE IS HOPE!!!
Whether you are struggling with addiction yourself, supporting someone you love, or grieving a loss caused by addiction, you do not have to walk this journey alone. We would be honoured to encourage you, support you, and help you explore what recovery could look like.
I know personally how difficult days like today can be. During my addiction, Fathers Day amplified the shame and guilt i carried. I could also feel the cry of my sons heart longing for his Father to be present not knowing why he wasnt. Those were some of my very darkest moments.
That all changed when i entered a recovery program and began my healing journey, and started doing the work needed to break free from addiction once and for all. It was time to start facing life responsibly.
Today, my relationships with my sons continue to be restored, and i am grateful for the healing that recovery has brought into my life.
Please dont give up on your loved one. Please don't give up on yourself.
THERE IS HOPE. THERE IS HEALING. THERE IS FREEDOM.
If today is a difficult day for you, we would love to hear from you and walk alongside you. Reach out to us, a conversation could be the beginning of a new chapter!!!
