Meet Jennifer!

Growing up in the 90s, Jennifer often felt different. With few stories that reflected her experience, those early moments shaped the compassion she brings to her work today.

“I was often made to feel different,” she shares. “Hearing stories of patients not being heard because of who they are has shaped me into a more compassionate person.”

Early in her career, Jennifer wasn’t sure she could be open about being pansexual at work—but the support and kindness of her manager helped her feel safe to be herself.

For Jennifer, Pride is deeply personal. “Both of my children are transgender, and supporting them has taught me so much about love, acceptance, and understanding.”

Stories like Jennifer’s remind us why inclusion in healthcare matters—because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and safe.

We’re growing to meet the needs of our community. Construction is underway at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital as part of a project to add new beds across OTMH and Milton District Hospital over the next two years.

This expansion will help improve access to care and reduce wait times for patients and families across the region. Patient care continues as usual as this work moves forward.

As construction begins, you may notice some increased activity around the hospital, including noise, traffic and temporary access changes. We’re working to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

Our hands work hard every day. Watch as our Hand Therapy team shares some stretches you can do to help increase flexibility, relieve muscle tension, and improve blood circulation.

Stretches:

1. Opposition: hold your hand in front of you with your palm facing up. Slowly touch the tip of your thumb to the tip of each finger one by one, forming an "O" shape each time

2. Hook Fist: hold your hand out straight, then curl only your middle and end finger joints downward while keeping your large knuckles straight and your thumb relaxed

3. Full Fist with Full Extension: Gently curl your fingers into your palm with your thumb on the outside (don’t squeeze too tightly), hold for 3–5 seconds, then open your hand fully and stretch your fingers out as far as possible.

Try these simple exercises at home to improve flexibility and help prevent injury. Regular stretching lubricates joints, lowers the risk of repetitive strain injuries, and boosts overall dexterity.

Aim to complete 2–3 sets of 10 repetitions per exercise each day. A few minutes can go a long way!

This World Environment Day, our teams got their hands dirty for a great cause—planting for a healthier planet and a more sustainable future.

Every small action added up. We were proud to take a step toward cleaner air, greener spaces, and a healthier community for everyone.

June is Indigenous History Month — a time to recognize, reflect, and learn from the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

In partnership with Grandmothers Voice, Halton Healthcare has installed plaques at our sites as a visible commitment to honour the land we are on and the communities who have cared for it since time immemorial.

These installations are one step in our ongoing journey of learning, respect and reconciliation.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect, listen and continue building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Today, we proudly raise the Pride flag in celebration of Pride Month and in support of 2SLGBTQ+ communities across our region.

At Halton Healthcare, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for everyone — patients, families, and staff. Raising the Pride flag is a symbol of that commitment and a reminder that everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and supported in their care.

Together, we continue to learn, grow, and stand in allyship today and every day.

Advanced surgical care didn’t take Spencer far from home.
It took him just five minutes down the road to Milton District Hospital.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, Spencer underwent minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System- returning home the next day and getting back to his normal activities within weeks.

This is one example of how advanced surgical technology is helping bring care closer to home across Halton Healthcare.

Our Emergency Departments are very busy. Patients are prioritized based on the urgency of their condition. Those with less urgent needs can expect longer wait times.

Estimated wait times reflect how long it may take to see a provider. Your full length of stay depends on the care you need and any tests you require.

We appreciate your patience as our teams work hard to care for everyone. For current wait times and non-hospital care options, visit the link in our bio.
