Today, we were pleased to welcome Ontario’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, MPP Stephen Crawford, MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP Zee Hamid, and Mayor Rob Burton to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital to mark the official start of construction of Halton Healthcare’s expansion project.

This important milestone will bring 123 new acute care beds to OTMH and MDH, increasing capacity and improving access to care for patients and families across our growing communities and the broader region.

Thank you to the Government of Ontario, our partners and our Halton Healthcare teams for helping move this project forward.

Our Emergency Departments are very busy. Patients are prioritized based on the urgency of their condition. Those with less urgent needs can expect longer wait times.

Estimated wait times reflect how long it may take to see a provider. Your full length of stay depends on the care you need and any tests you require.

We appreciate your patience as our teams work hard to care for everyone. For current wait times and non-hospital care options, visit the link in bio

Meet Bill

Since 2010, Bill has been a familiar and welcoming presence at Milton District Hospital. With over 1,660 hours of volunteer service, across many areas of the hospital.

Bill’s journey to Canada is one of travel, resilience and new beginnings. In 1958, he travelled from East Africa to India, and in 1962, made the journey from India to Germany by road. Eventually, making his way to Canada, where he built a new life and community.

These experiences have shaped Bill’s ability to connect with others. His appreciation for kindness and helping one another has made it easy for him to connect with patients from all walks of life.

For Bill, volunteering is all about connection and comfort. “When patients feel good, I feel good,” he shares. Whether he’s helping someone find their way or offering a friendly conversation, Bills brings a sense of calm and reassurance to patients, families and staff.

With a deep passion for healthcare and a warmth that makes people feel at ease, Bill has a way of turning simple moments into meaningful connections.

Each week, Bill looks forward to his time at the hospital. “It brings me peace,” he says. And that peace is felt by everyone around him.
