🚢 That’s a wrap on the SNAME Maritime Convention 2026! After three days of insightful discussions, meaningful connections, and industry collaboration in Houston, the SNAME Maritime Convention has officially come to a close!

This year's theme, Shaping the Future, highlighted the innovation, expertise, and collaboration driving the maritime industry forward. From exploring emerging technologies and new approaches to ship design to discussing the opportunities and challenges facing our industry, it was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with fellow maritime professionals.

A big thank you to SNAME, the organizers, speakers, and everyone who stopped by to connect with the Genoa Design International team. We're excited to build on these conversations and continue contributing to the future of shipbuilding! Until next time! ⚓

🚢 Day 2 of the SNAME Maritime Convention 2026 is underway! We're excited to be in Houston, connecting with industry leaders, sharing knowledge, and exploring the ideas and innovations shaping the future of shipbuilding, design, and marine operations.

Today, we're especially looking forward to contributing to two important conversations about our industry's future!

🎤 1:30 PM – 3:20 PM | Panel Session: Perfect Storm – The Talent and Labour Demand in North American Shipbuilding
Our Talent Solutions Manager, Jim Gosse, will join fellow industry experts to discuss the growing demand for skilled talent and the workforce challenges and opportunities facing North America's shipbuilding industry.

💡 3:20 PM – 3:30 PM | Innovation Stage: AI Knowledge Creation in Shipbuilding
Our Senior Director of Technology, Colin Power, will take the Innovation Stage in the Legends Ballroom to explore how artificial intelligence can support knowledge creation and help shape the future of shipbuilding.

🎉 That's a wrap on our first Charting the Course cohort! After six weeks of learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience, we're proud to celebrate the completion of Genoa's inaugural Charting the Course program!

Throughout the program, participants explored the fundamentals of ship design, developed technical skills using industry-standard software, connected with experienced professionals, and visited shipbuilding facilities to see how their learning translates into the real world.

But Charting the Course was about more than technical training. It was about building confidence, discovering new career possibilities, making meaningful connections, and finding a place in Canada's growing shipbuilding industry.

As one participant shared: "This was a life-changing experience, showing me that I'm capable of so much more than I thought."

From their first introduction to marine design to their final presentations, it was incredible to see how much this group learned and grew together. A huge congratulations to our first cohort! Thank you to our instructors, industry partners, and everyone who helped bring this program to life. We're excited to see where your journeys take you next! 🚢

Through our Gaining Ground initiative, we're expanding our technical capabilities with specialized AVEVA Marine software training, strengthening our expertise in hull, structural, and outfitting design.

⚓ Honouring Niobe Day!

On October 21, 1910, HMCS Niobe arrived in Halifax Harbour, becoming the first Canadian warship to enter Canadian waters and marking a significant milestone in Canada's naval history.

Today, we recognize this historic moment and celebrate the proud legacy of the Royal Canadian Navy, along with the generations of sailors, shipbuilders, and maritime professionals who have helped shape Canada's naval heritage.
