Who else is still recovering from the burgers and lawn game competitiveness from fathers day? 🙋‍♂️

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Father’s Day Community Event and spent the day with us. These events mean a lot to the people in our program, not just because they’re fun (which they are), but because they create space for connection, support, and moments people actually remember.

Happy Father’s Day! Today we’re thinking about all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father figures who show up with love, support, patience, terrible jokes, unsolicited life advice, and “dad texts” that sometimes never fully make sense 😅

The people who check in, teach lessons the hard way sometimes, make us laugh when we need it most, and remind us we’re not alone.

We’re excited to spend the afternoon celebrating community, connection, and fatherhood with everyone later today at our Father’s Day Community Event. See you at 12pm!

Tomorrow’s the day! Our Father’s Day Community Event is happening tomorrow from 12 PM – 3 PM at Skaha Lake Park in Penticton!

There’ll be:
A by-donation BBQ
Games & activities
Families, alumni, residents & community members
Good food and good people

This event means a lot to our recovery community every year, and we’re excited to spend the afternoon celebrating fathers, connection, community, and second chances.

Come hang out, bring the family, and enjoy the day with us!

We are grateful and proud to be a part of the amazing community here in Penticton and be involved in the discussions that can shape our future.

Building a safe, vibrant, and thriving community takes collaboration. Last Friday, a few of us came together to discuss key safety challenges, explore opportunities, and identify practical solutions that support the well-being of residents, businesses, and visitors throughout Penticton.

Recovery doesn’t just impact one person. It impacts families too. One of the biggest parts of what we do at Discovery House is helping return men to their families stronger, healthier, and more present than before.

That process doesn’t happen overnight. Rebuilding trust takes time. Reconnecting with children takes effort. Learning how to communicate differently, show up consistently, and rebuild relationships takes real work.
But we’ve seen it happen.

We’ve seen phone calls turn into visits. Visits turn into family dinners. Distance turn into connection again. Moments like that are a huge part of why Discovery House exists 💛

Little throwback while we get ready for this year’s Father’s Day Community Event 🌭

Every year this day somehow ends up being a mix of BBQ smoke, lawn games, chaos, laughter, reconnecting, and someone insisting they “definitely used to be way better at this game.”.

Our Father’s Day event is about community. Family. Showing up. Second chances. Seeing dads reconnect with their kids.
