🚛💙 What an incredible day at the 2nd Annual Horse Power for Healing event hosted by CAT in Port Alberni!

Headwaters Alberni Recovery was proud to be part of this amazing community gathering. We had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful community members, connect with other like-minded organizations, and build new relationships that will help us continue growing and serving our community. 🤝✨

One of the highlights of the day was seeing so many people excited to step inside the Unimog and learn more about what we're doing. The Headwaters-branded Unimog definitely turned some heads and sparked some great conversations! 🚜👀

A huge thank you to CAT for organizing another fantastic event and to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We’re looking forward to the opportunities and partnerships that came from this great day. Community Action Team - Port Alberni

💊 What does our Medication Management look like?

• Random medication audits may be conducted to ensure compliance. ✅
• Any suspected misuse or diversion of medication will result in immediate review and possible disciplinary action, up to and including discharge from the house. ⚠️
🏡 Resident supervision:
• Upon intake, a new resident will remain on the property for the first forty-five days other than being escorted to and from appointments and program functions. Movement on site is closely monitored. New residents will be always accompanied for outdoor activities during this time. 👥
• A facilitator is present during the day and supplemented by volunteers in supportive roles (i.e. leading, directing tasks, yard work, tutoring, leading group sessions, teaching skills). Volunteer monitors will be present at night. 🌞🌙 All exterior doors have external cameras present which are recorded. 📹 All exterior doors are equipped with electronic lock sets that automatically lock. 🔒
• All bedrooms can accommodate two residents who are accountable to each other. 🛏️🛏️
• Living in community brings with it accountability to each other. 🤝
• Missing persons protocols are in place with RCMP and the courts. 🚔⚖️

Which drugs are prohibited?

• Opioids and narcotics (e.g., codeine, oxycodone, morphine).
• Substitute or replacement drugs for addiction treatment (full agonist medications such as methadone, buprenorphine, or suboxone)
o Note: Partial agonist therapies are allowed in some circumstances with the aim of being weaned off support within 3 months of admittance.
• Benzodiazepines (e.g., diazepam, lorazepam) and other addictive sedatives.

Join Community Action Team - Port Alberni for a day of horsepower, healing, and community connection!

Horsepower for Healing 2 is back for its second year — a mental health and harm reduction focused car show that brings people together through a shared love of classic, custom, and performance vehicles.

Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Fall Fair Grounds, Port Alberni

Come check out an incredible lineup of vehicles while connecting with local services and community organizations working to support mental health, recovery, and wellness.

This family-friendly event is free to attend and open to everyone.
