Welcome Amanda!🤍
We have BIG news to share….
The Urquhart Program is growing 🎉
We’re SO excited to welcome Amanda to the team!! She is kind, caring, and shares all the values that the Urquhart Program stands by 💜 Below is a glimpse of what she’s bringing to the program. We’re incredibly lucky to have her!
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Amanda is a Licensed Counselling Therapist–Candidate (LCT-C) with a background in education, child and family development, and mental health. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Master of Education in Counselling from the University of New Brunswick, bringing together a strong foundation in human development with a warm, relational counselling approach. She has also completed specialized training in reproductive trauma, further deepening her ability to support individuals and families navigating complex emotional experiences related to pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
For over a decade, Amanda has worked closely with children and families in education supporting them as they navigate the emotional realities that can accompany raising a child with additional needs. She has seen the profound impact that early experiences, caregiver well-being, and compassionate support can have on the entire family. These experiences inspired her to focus her counselling practice on the perinatal period, where early and meaningful support can make a lasting difference for parents and their children. Amanda also carries a personal understanding of how quickly the early postpartum period can become shaped by medical uncertainty and unexpected turns. These combined experiences have deepened her sensitivity to the many ways the perinatal journey can unfold, and her commitment to meeting parents with compassion, steadiness, and care during some of their most vulnerable moments.
Amanda’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in real-life understanding. She believes healing happens in relationships where people feel safe, accepted, and not alone in what they are carrying. Her work is strengths-based and trauma-informed, supporting clients as they process their experiences and feel less alone in what they are carrying. She is honoured to be part of the Urquhart Program and to walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment, loss, and the many emotional layers of becoming a parent.
