Smet Monuments

Smet Monuments Smet Monuments has been providing Quality & Affordable Memorials Since 1948 Smet Monuments is a family owned and run business situated in St.

Stephen, New Brunswick. We have been helping families choose memorials for over five decades. Our market areas include NB, NS, PEI, Quebec, Maine and Bermuda. We also wholesale granite to Newfoundland and have shipped granite to western United States and Canada. At Smet Monuments we actively seek out and obtain only the best quality granites from the larger, more reputable suppliers. Since 1985, t

here have been many improvements made to our production facility. We were the first to become computer capable for our designing and, more importantly, our cutting. We computer cut our stencil and have a fully automated sandblaster. Front offices have been added, as well as a 120 x 50 foot heated production and storage area. In 1994, the granite photography process was perfected and we made the necessary improvements to be able to provide this service. In 1995, we made another addition to house a grinder/polisher and a couple of diamond saws thus making us more self-sufficient. In 2002 we again expanded our warehousing capacity with a new 80 x 40 foot building. Present office and plant staff runs at about 12 employees. In addition, we have numerous sales representatives throughout Atlantic Canada and Maine. We have an ongoing education and training program for our agents that has enabled them to become professional memorial counselors. They are available days, evenings or weekends at the customers convenience for appointments. We recently have been producing some Specialty items such as countertops, bookends, granite clocks, granite bibles, benches and landscaping items. Another recent improvement has been the addition of "Laser Technology" which allows us to etch many things into the face of the stone such as nature scenes, photos, paintings, medals, logos, etc. This process is done on dark black granite and creates a very unique memorial reflecting the person's life. Memories permanently etched in granite forever, at an affordable price. We welcome the public to visit our facility to see first hand the process that goes into the making of a monument. We have always exhibited a strong social conscience through involvement and support of many individuals, groups and organizations. Smet Monuments has always been actively involved in assisting with community projects such as cemetery restoration, war memorials and dedication plaques.
