I’m looking to add some new artwork and photography to Merritt Funeral Home and would really love to showcase local talent and local places.

I’m hoping to find:

• Artwork created by local artists

• Photography featuring West Lincoln

• Paintings, drawings, prints or other pieces with a local connection

• Local artists or photographers who may have work available for purchase or commission

I’d especially love pieces that capture the beauty, history and character of our community.

As many of you know, Drew has had the privilege of serving families in our community through Merritt Funeral Home. Today, he and his family find themselves on the other side of the profession, experiencing the same grief and loss that so many families entrust us to help navigate the loss of his father.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and support we have already received. Your kindness has been a tremendous source of comfort during this difficult time.

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone for — 40 years as a licensed funeral director.

For four decades, Tom has served families with compassion, professionalism, and a level of care that has helped shape what funeral service means in our community. His dedication to the families of West Lincoln and beyond has left a lasting impact on so many lives.

Forty years in this profession is more than a number — it represents thousands of families helped through some of life’s hardest moments, countless hours of service, and a lifelong commitment to caring for others.

Congratulations Tom on this amazing achievement, and thank you for everything you’ve done for our community and for the profession. Here’s to 40 years of service and the legacy you continue to build every day.

Over the next couple of days, if you happen to drive by Merritt Funeral Home, you’ll notice two beautifully restored 1950’s John Deere tractors displayed on our front lawn.

These tractors belonged to John Gavora, who took great pride in collecting and caring for them over the years. They were more than just tractors to him — they were part of his story, his passion, and a reflection of the life he lived.

At Merritt Funeral Home, we believe every service should feel personal and meaningful. Whether it’s displaying a cherished collection, incorporating hobbies, or sharing the little things that made someone unique, we always strive to create moments that truly honour the individual.

We are grateful to Johnny’s friends for allowing us to help celebrate John’s life in such a special way.
