For more than 100 years, the Newfoundland National War Memorial has honoured the sacrifices of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians during the First World War.

In 2024, one of those fallen soldiers finally came home.

An unknown Newfoundland soldier from the First World War was repatriated from France and laid to rest at the Memorial—representing all who made the ultimate sacrifice and have no known graves.

As we prepare to mark the 110th anniversary of the Battles of the Somme and Beaumont-Hamel, we remember their courage, dedication and sacrifice.
