At Premier Health we advise wearing sunscreen every day regardless of the weather!
Our skin works hard to protect us from harmful ultraviolet radiation, which is why we should use sunscreen to protect us from damaging UV rays. If you don't apply sunscreen, the UV radiation can damage the collagen & connective tissue in your skin. This, in turn, leads to sun burns, sun damage, premature aging, wrinkles, dark spots & even skin cancer.
Make sure to apply your sunscreen! ☀️

Sugar is found in many foods, both naturally or added. Sugar provides energy (calories) but has no nutritional value on its own. Sugars are often added to processed foods to improve their flavor, color, texture and shelf-life. Consuming too much sugar is associated with heart disease, stroke, obesity, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, cancer and cavities.

Here are a few tips to Reduce your Sugar Intake:

1. Don’t "drink your calories" & avoid sugary drinks
2. Try whole foods with minimal processing
3. Snack sensibly and consciously
4. Eat lower-sugar cereals
5. Cook at home more often
6. Use substitutes as much as possible
7. Read the Nutrition Facts table and the ingredient list on packaged foods

Join Premier Health in recognizing May 26 as National Reflexology Day, dedicated to raising awareness of reflexology as a supportive, non-invasive therapy that complements conventional medical care. Rooted in ancient healing practices, reflexology focuses on pressure points in the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to organs and systems throughout the body. It can help reduce stress, alleviate pain, enhance circulation, and support the body's natural healing processes.

At our facility, we recognize the value of integrative approaches in promoting whole-person wellness. Learn how reflexology can be part of your care plan—schedule a session or speak with our wellness team today.

Anaphylaxis, also called allergic or anaphylactic shock, is a sudden, severe and life-threatening allergic reaction that involves the whole body. The reaction is marked by constriction of the airways, leading to difficulty breathing. Swelling of the throat may block the airway in severe cases.

If you’re with someone who’s experiencing anaphylaxis, you should:
Call 911 immediately.
See if they have an epinephrine (adrenaline) auto-injector (EpiPen) and help them, if needed.
Try to keep the person calm.
Help the person lie on their back.
Raise their feet about 12 inches and cover them with a blanket.
Turn them on their side if they’re vomiting or bleeding.
Make sure their clothing is loose so they can breathe.
