What started as a new beginning has grown into a vibrant community filled with connection, compassion, and countless meaningful memories. Today, we are proud to celebrate Humber Meadows’ 3rd Anniversary and reflect on the incredible journey we have shared together over the past three years — while looking ahead to the next chapter💙

From meaningful moments and milestone celebrations to new friendships and exceptional care, every day has been shaped by the people who make Humber Meadows feel like home — our residents, families, team members, volunteers, and community partners.

Thank you for being part of our journey over the past three years. Here’s to continuing to create a place where everyone belongs, feels valued, and can truly thrive as we step into our next chapter together.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Humber Meadows! 🎉

We’re proud to celebrate our IPAC Lead, Christi-Ann, for attending the IPAC Canada 2026 National Education Conference in Toronto — “A Golden Foundation – Our Place to Grow” — during IPAC Canada’s 50th Anniversary. ✨

This incredible opportunity reflects our ongoing commitment to infection prevention and control excellence, continuous learning, and creating a safe environment for our residents, families, staff, and community. By bringing back new knowledge, evidence-informed practices, and valuable connections, Christi-Ann continues to help strengthen the quality of care we provide every day. Congratulations on representing our home at this milestone national conference!

Yesterday, our home was filled with the sights, sounds, and flavours of Italy as residents celebrated Italian Day together☕

From enjoying fresh espresso and delicious tiramisu, to “travelling” through beautiful backdrops inspired by iconic Italian landmarks like the Trevi Fountain, the day was filled with music, laughter, memories, and meaningful social connection.

At our home, culturally appropriate care means more than meeting needs — it means celebrating identity, honouring traditions, and creating moments that feel familiar, joyful, and deeply personal for our residents. These celebrations provide opportunities for connection, reminiscence, and a sense of belonging that is so important in long-term care. We are especially fortunate to have two dedicated Italian floors in our home, where culture, language, traditions, and community continue to be embraced and celebrated every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring a little piece of Italy to our home yesterday ❤️

Pride Month is a celebration of identity, courage, love, and belonging 🌈

In long-term care, home is more than a place — it is where people should feel safe to be seen, heard, respected, and valued for exactly who they are. This month, we are reminded of our commitment to creating a community where residents, families, staff, and partners feel respected, valued, safe, and proud to be themselves.

We are committed to fostering a culture where dignity, compassion, trust and respect are not just words, but lived values — where every person feels welcomed, every voice matters, and everyone truly belongs.

Because the best homes are built on acceptance, connection, and the freedom to be yourself!

After three incredible years, Humber Meadows is honoured to officially become a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Designate through the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO).

This milestone is especially meaningful as Humber Meadows was the first long-term care home to receive BPSO pre-designate status prior to opening, and now proudly graduates to full designation — a historic moment for our home and community.

Last night, six members of our leadership team attended the opening ceremonies of the 101st RNAO AGM to accept this designation on behalf of our entire Humber Meadows family. In the coming weeks, our certificate will be proudly displayed as a symbol of the compassion, dedication, and commitment to excellence that fills our home each day.

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support of our staff, more than 100 BPSO Champions, and the residents and families who inspire the work we do every day.

We look forward to sharing more about this journey soon, but for now, here is a look at what our team is most proud of accomplishing over the past three years:

“Our organization is most proud of the strong culture of collaboration and engagement that has defined our BPSO journey, with more than 100 staff across departments stepping forward as champions and actively partnering with residents and families to bring best practices to life.

Together, we have strengthened interdisciplinary teamwork, elevated the resident voice—including having a resident present at a provincial BPSO launch—and implemented evidence-based initiatives that enhance comfort, connection, and quality of care. This journey represents our collective commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and ensuring every resident benefits from the highest standards of compassionate, people-centred care.

This designation is dedicated to Wanda P., a resident champion whose passion, advocacy, and unwavering support was instrumental in the success of Humber Meadows’ BPSO journey.”

✨ Staff Spotlight: Kathleen E ✨

Today, we’re recognizing Kathleen, one of our dedicated EVS Workers/Housekeepers, whose kindness and hard work help make our home feel warm, comfortable, and cared for every single day. 💙

When asked what motivates her in her work, Kathleen shared:
“What motivates me is knowing that my work has an impact on the residents’ daily lives. It feels great to know that even the small details in my work can help someone’s quality of life.”

In long-term care, it’s often the quiet acts of care that make the biggest difference. From creating clean and welcoming spaces to helping residents feel safe, comfortable, and at home, Kathleen’s work touches the lives of so many in meaningful ways.

Thank you, Kathleen, for the compassion, pride, and heart you bring to your role each day. We are so grateful to have you as part of our home.

If you see her around the home, be sure to say hello!

Throughout the week, we’ve shared treats, gifts, laughter, and today, wrapped it all up with a special BBQ to thank the amazing people who make our home feel like family.

Your dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank you for the care you provide, the smiles you share, and the difference you make in the lives of our residents and one another every single day.
