Cotton swabs push earwax deeper into the canal, frequently causing muffled hearing, temporary ringing, or an uncomfortable blocked sensation.

Safe, professional ear wax removal relies on precise clinical methods like microsuction rather than risky home remedies. If you are experiencing sudden muffled sound or ear discomfort, our audiologists can safely clear the blockage in a quick appointment.

We had the opportunity to create our own custom perfumes, and it was the perfect activity to kick off a conversation about individual preferences in hearing and sound.

Just as each of us gravitated toward different notes, combinations, and intensities based on our own experiences and preferences, people can experience and prefer sound differently too.

Our perception of sound is shaped by a combination of factors, including our individual biology, neurology, listening history, and personal experiences. There isn’t necessarily a single “best” sound; what feels natural, comfortable, or enjoyable can be highly individual.

It was a fun (and very fragrant!) reminder of why personalization matters so much in hearing care. 🎧🌸

Check out ET and his scent making process too!

Looking forward to learning more and connecting with colleagues at this event.

September is Healthy Aging Month

Healthy aging is about staying connected to the people around you, but hearing changes often happen so gradually that you pull back from social settings without realizing it. Missing pieces of dinner conversations or asking the grandkids to repeat themselves shouldn't be the norm.

Our independent, locally owned clinics provide precise assessments to help you catch early baseline shifts and protect your active lifestyle.

When was your last hearing test? 👂

Eye exams? Booked. Dental cleanings? Booked. But most adults miss the early signs of hearing changes because they happen slowly:

🎬 The TV volume creeps up.
🍽️ Busy restaurants feel exhausting.
🗣️ You ask people to repeat themselves.
A quick baseline assessment catches changes early—before they affect your daily connections.

How often do you use earbuds, AirPods, or headphones?
For many people, the answer is "every day."

Music during workouts. Podcasts on the commute. Calls between meetings. Videos before bed.

The problem? Hearing damage from headphones rarely happens all at once. It develops gradually over time, often without obvious warning signs.

Our latest blog explores the hearing risks associated with everyday headphone use, early symptoms to watch for, and simple habits that can help protect your hearing.

Fireworks are a highlight of the season, but they can also expose your ears to very high noise levels, especially when viewed up close.

If you've ever noticed ringing in your ears, muffled hearing, or temporary sound sensitivity after a fireworks display, it's worth paying attention.

Protecting your hearing isn't about avoiding summer fun. It's about enjoying it safely. 👂☀️

This Father's Day, the most meaningful gifts aren't always the ones wrapped in a box.

For many dads, hearing changes happen gradually. Conversations become harder to follow. Family gatherings require more effort. The stories, jokes, and little moments that once came easily can start to fade into the background.

The good news? Hearing technology has come a long way.

Today's hearing aids are smaller, smarter, more discreet, and designed to help people stay connected to the conversations and experiences that matter most.

Because better hearing isn't just about turning up the volume.

It's about hearing your granddaughter's latest story. Catching every punchline at the dinner table. Staying present in the moments you don't want to miss.

At Toronto Hearing Consultants, our audiologists provide personalized guidance to help patients find hearing solutions tailored to their unique hearing needs, lifestyle, and long-term comfort.

This Father's Day, if you or someone you love has been putting off the conversation about hearing health, it may be time to explore the options available.

"Does OHIP cover hearing aids?"

It's one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer surprises many people.

The short answer is no. OHIP does not cover the cost of hearing aids in Ontario. However, you may qualify for financial assistance through Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP), which can help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.

Many people are unsure about:

• What is actually covered
• Who qualifies for funding
• What costs they may still need to pay
• Whether seniors receive full coverage

Our latest guide explains how hearing aid coverage in Ontario really works, so you can make informed decisions about your hearing health.

If you’re hearing people talk but still missing parts of the conversation, turning the volume up isn’t the real solution.

Modern hearing aids are designed to help you hear speech more clearly, reduce background noise, and make everyday conversations feel easier again, whether you’re at dinner with family, in meetings, or out with friends.

And no, they’re not the bulky hearing aids people picture from 20 years ago.

At Toronto Hearing Consultants, our audiologists help patients find hearing aids that fit their hearing needs, lifestyle, and comfort level, with personalized support every step of the way.
