Maybe summer didn't fix it. Maybe it just gave you a break from noticing it.

There is something about the transition into September that can bring everything back into focus.
The slower mornings.
The extra time outside.
The vacations.
The social plans.
The longer days.

For a little while, you may have felt lighter.

So you put off booking therapy.
"I'll do it when things settle down."
"I'm actually feeling pretty good right now."
"Maybe I don't need it anymore."

And now the routines are back.
School. Work. Schedules. Deadlines. Responsibilities.
And suddenly, the anxiety, irritability, exhaustion, emotional overwhelm, or disconnection you thought had disappeared starts showing up again.

That doesn't mean you failed.

It may simply mean that what you were carrying never fully went away, it just wasn't as loud for a while.

You don't have to wait until you're drowning to reach for support.
Therapy can be a space to slow down, understand what's happening beneath the overwhelm, and develop healthier ways of moving through it.
If you've been putting off booking a session, consider this your reminder that you don't have to keep waiting.

Book your psychotherapy session with Sandra through the link in the bio.
And if this post made you think of someone who keeps saying "I'll deal with it later," send it to them.

Save it for yourself, too. You might need the reminder.

Back to School: A Fresh Start 🌱📚

Going back to school is more than buying new supplies and adjusting to a new routine—it’s a major life transition.

Whether last school year was difficult, your summer was challenging, or you simply aren't ready to leave behind the fun and freedom of summer, give yourself permission to adjust.

As you enter this new chapter, remember to prioritize both your physical and mental health. Get enough rest, move your body, eat well, and make space for the things that help you recharge.

Reconnect with old friends and strengthen the relationships that supported you, while also remaining open to new friendships and experiences.

Most importantly: don't be afraid to ask for help. You don't have to navigate the pressures, changes, and challenges of the school year alone. Asking for support is not a weakness—it's a skill that can help you grow.

Here's to a healthy, balanced, and meaningful school year.

✨ Meet Ivy Lim, Intern Therapist

You may look like you have it all together—but that doesn’t mean it feels that way on the inside.

Ivy supports busy women and caregivers navigating burnout, overwhelming mental loads, family expectations, life transitions, stress, and anxiety. She also works with those who are redefining their roles, breaking old family cycles, and trying to reconnect with who they truly are.

Her approach is warm, collaborative, non-judgmental, and culturally attuned. Drawing from relational, psychodynamic, and existential therapy, Ivy also incorporates mindfulness and nervous system regulation to create a space where you can slow down, untangle what you're carrying, and reconnect with yourself—at a pace that feels right for you.

Because you don't have to carry the invisible weight alone. 🤍

✨ Meet Lam Gordan, RSW, MSW — Registered Social Worker

Life transitions can bring a lot of uncertainty. Changes in relationships, careers, education, identity, or sport can leave you feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what comes next.

Lam supports young adults, adults, and athletes through these challenging seasons — including performance pressure, injury recovery, retirement from sport, and the unique relationship between achievement, identity, and well-being.

His approach is strengths-based, client-centered, and tailored to your individual experiences. Together, you'll explore what's going on, build practical coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and work toward greater clarity and confidence.

Whether you're navigating a major transition, managing stress, or working through challenges related to sport or identity, you don't have to navigate it alone. 🤍

Taking that first step toward support can be the beginning of meaningful change.

"I thought something was wrong with me."

This is a thought many mothers silently carry after giving birth.

For women of colour, postpartum depression is often made even heavier by stigma, pressure to stay strong, systemic barriers to care, and the fear of being misunderstood (Beck, 2023; Center for American Progress, 2022).

The truth is:
You are not failing.
You are not alone.
You deserve support before reaching your breaking point.

Healing doesn't require pretending you're okay.
It begins when you have a safe space to say, "I'm not okay."
If you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, anxious, or unlike yourself after having a baby, know that therapy can help.

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I provide a compassionate, culturally responsive space where you can slow down, process your experiences, and reconnect with yourself without judgment.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Let’s talk about it. 👇

You have the life experience, the career, and the family—but carrying it all at once is heavy. For many professional mothers, navigating the intersection of a demanding schedule, changing biology, and shifting relationship dynamics can lead to profound overwhelm and anxiety.

When you are used to succeeding and managing everything on your own, asking for support can feel counterintuitive. Yet, the stress of holding it all together often spills over into our partnerships and family dynamics, leaving us feeling more disconnected just when we need connection the most.

Therapy offers a non-judgmental environment to pause and unpack these layers. It is a space to explore how overwhelm is showing up for you, navigate relationship challenges, and understand the impact of the biological and life transitions you are experiencing.

I’m Ivy a student therapist, and I work with women who are navigating exactly this chapter of life. I am committed to making this process accessible, which is why I offer affordable therapy rates in person or virtual.
