Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!

I’ve been back from the UK for almost a week. I’ve been sleeping like a champion! Going for long walks every morning. And teaching more yoga than I have in years. And the funny part is, the more I slow down, the more of the work I actually love comes in the door.

While I was away I did my usual and packed a travel rig. But what was unusual was I didn’t take it out of my luggage and set it up when I landed.

I spent an entire week NOT working! And the world didn’t stop turning.

In fact, when I came back, I had work waiting for me! What do you mean I was allowed an actual break?!

A lot came up while we were away. Thoughts of my brother-in-law, of my health (I’m fine! And I wanna keep it that way!), my life’s direction, how I’m living my day to day… and coming back to my “normal life” looking at what I can change, what I can let go of, so that I can make room for the really important stuff. The stuff that I keep telling myself “one day”…

One day is today… why not start with yoga!

Mysore starts at 7am in person and online at 1768 Danforth Ave. See you on the mat 🧘🏼‍♀️

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!

“I was wrong”

“I’m sorry”

“I don’t know”

In my opinion these are 3 of the most powerful statements anyone can make. Especially as stand alone sentences.

I was raised to tell stories. I’m Irish. I’m a voice actor for gods sake! lol! So stories are part of who I am! But when I learned that not every situation requires one, I started to grow as a person. So when I encounter someone who can’t say “I was wrong.” “I’m sorry.” “I don’t know.” I go one of two ways depending on the situation. I’m either sorry for them. Genuinely! Or I’m triggered by them. Especially if they KNOW they are wrong and defend their position with dishonesty.

In yoga dishonesty is called “Asteya”. Literally it means “not truth”. It is the opposite of the first limb of yoga philosophy, the Yamas.

Truth is Satya and it’s how I live my life.

The more I studied yoga the more I understood that yoga is so much more than asana (the poses). But they are the gateway to the real world of yoga. Want to try?

Mysore starts at 7am! See you on the mat 1768 Danforth Ave

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

52 orbits around the sun.

Since crossing that 50 threshold things have been different. Like I’m living in someone else’s reality. As of today that changes.

No more “trying to figure it out”.
No more “back in the day” reminiscing.

Today is a new day! And a new chance! And day one of a new story. And that story is gonna be epic!

Change is inevitable. So it’s time for me to embrace that change and get curious about it.

And I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate change than by teaching yoga!

On the mat we embody the understanding that nothing stays the same. Every time we step onto it something different happens. And we’re taught to embrace that. Time to follow my own advice!

52 - you and I are going to have the BEST time! Let’s go! Let’s start with yoga. Wanna come?

7am Mysore online and in person at 1768 Danforth Ave. See you on the mat 🧘🏼‍♀️

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!

This quote feels like it’s talking directly to me!

Maybe it’s Lions Gate energy.

Maybe it’s the anniversary of my Dad’s passing (of course he left when the portal opened).

Maybe it’s a midlife crisis.

Maybe it’s all THREE!

Oh and turning 52 next week would be the cherry on top.

But dang! “Out of sorts” describes my current state of being.

Is it just me? Or are you feeling it too?

Lions Gate is always a time when I look inward to see what needs to go. Releasing old habits, being clear about what I want and where I want to go, and being quiet in meditation to see what else comes up. I journal a lot. And I do yoga.

Today is a busy day with a lot of movement happening at the house as we prepare for Elana’s birthday and trip to the UK. But somewhere in there I will find the time to practice and sit quietly.

Wanna join me?

7am Mysore in person and online. Everyone is welcome! 1768 Danforth Ave. See you on the mat 🧘🏼‍♀️

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!!

It’s been a hot minute since I posted ANYTHING ANYWHERE! How are y’all doing?!

It’s been a MONTH of yoga! Between hosting the retreat and attending the final 2 weeks of a yoga teacher training, I have been more immersed in the world of yoga than I have in a long time. I’ll be unpacking how I feel about this for the next few weeks it’s definitely been interesting.

Bearing witness to my own reactions, other people, different personalities, different opinions. And being in a room with 40+ people for 10-12 hours a day has been heartwarming and exhausting all at the same time. This introvert needs some alone time!

But the thing that stuck out the most for me was an interesting full circle moment that I didn’t even think about until the closing circle yesterday.

When I moved back from Taiwan in 2009 I had to start from scratch. I hadn’t lived in Canada for 10 years. I had zero yoga connections here and had to pound the pavement to build a schedule of classes. One of the places I landed was at Moksha Yoga Bloor West. Out of the 26 classes I taught weekly, 12 of them were at that studio in their non heated room.

Flash forward 15 years, Moksha has changed its name to Modo. And as I step more intentionally back into a public teaching schedule (teaching at other studios, not just MTO and privates) I find myself back at Modo but this time as a Modo teacher. First class is on Sunday at 12pm at the Danforth studio!

I think karma is trying to tell me something…

This morning I’m back with my beloved students for Mysore at 7am! And I can’t wait to see you all!

All are welcome! See you on the mat 1768 Danforth Ave 🧘‍♂️

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice! Tracy has the helm this morning as I’m attending a Yoga Teacher Training for the next 2 weeks. Today is the 1st day of the in person classes.

The past 2 years have been weird. Everything feels like it’s on its head and nothing makes sense anymore. For a while I tried to figure it out and understand it but I’ve finally stopped. It was like hitting my head against a wall for no good reason. So I’m doing what has always made sense. Stepping onto the mat.

I’ll be sharing the experience here and on where I’ll be posting about how to do VO recording in a car if you want to follow along!

But it’s time! To pivot. See you on the mat 1768 Danforth Ave.

Wow… 🥰

I arrived home last night with a full heart after hosting a beautiful weekend retreat in Quebec, Canada, with some incredible women!

The group ranged from absolute yoga beginner to yoga teacher.

From voice actor, to priest, to psychologist, to grocery clerk, and everything in between.

Folks flew in from as far as Los Angeles! And as close as Montreal.

And every single person needed the same thing: an opportunity to put themselves first.

Over the course of the weekend we explored yogasana, meditation, breath work, mantra, and mudra.

We also wandered the streets of Old Quebec sampling w**e and patios and ice cream and Fete de Quebec.

There were facials and massages and midday naps.

And lazy moments in the gardens soaking up the sun!

It was more than I could have hoped for 🤩

All we’ll be doing all again next year.

Who’s in??

Good morning, Toronto! Time to practice!

I’m taking a moment before Day 2 of the Retreat to pause and be grateful. And as I did I had a little visitor in the form of a sparrow.

Seeing a sparrow can be a spiritual nudge to strengthen your “flock,” lean on your community, and appreciate the power of shared connections. And being at a retreat at a monastery in Quebec, well I can’t think of a more appropriate sign!

Find your people. Maybe try yoga!

The studio in Toronto is closed this morning but there is a free pre recorded class posted online for those interested. Link in bio.
