Berwick on the Park residents enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of creativity while learning new skills during our two-part DIY folded book page flower vase program! Beginning as unwanted hardcover novels, books were transformed into beautiful decorative vases through cutting, folding, and plenty of imagination. The removed book pages were then re-purposed into delicate flowers using watercolors and careful shaping techniques. Laughter, creativity, and great conversation filled the room as everyone worked on their unique creations!

And they're off! Another 24 travellers from Berwick are heading to Alaska. The last time we made this journey was in 2024, and it quickly became one of our most talked-about trips. We knew we had to do it again!

Creating opportunities for residents to explore incredible destinations while travelling with friends and neighbours is something we're proud to offer. These shared experiences build memories, friendships, and stories that last long after the trip is over.

Resident-led initiatives continue to bring energy, connection, and creativity to our Berwick community! Recently, a group of enthusiastic residents, with guidance from Berwick Parksville Senior Hospitality Manager and Dining Services Manager created, planned, and hosted a community cocktail hour that they proudly named “Topside Uncorked.” Resident volunteers Vern and Robert went the extra mile by obtaining their Serving It Right certification, allowing them to mix and serve cocktails behind the bar.

Topside Uncorked was a tremendous success and showcased the passion, talent, and leadership of our resident volunteers, who took great pride in creating a welcoming and memorable experience for their neighbours!

During the month of May, Active Living at Berwick on the Park proudly hosted a successful fundraising campaign in support of the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon. Three separate 50/50 draws were held throughout the month, with additional funds raised during our Happy Hour event.

To help encourage donations and add an element of surprise, Berwick on the Park's Active Living Manager, Kristina, volunteered to cut off 13 inches of her hair. Residents were unaware of just how much hair would be donated until our in-house hairstylist, Michelle, began the transformation.

Together, the community at Berwick on the Park raised an impressive $2,507 for the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon. In addition, Kristina's donated hair was sent to Wigs for Kids BC in Vancouver, helping provide wigs for children in need. Thanks to the generosity, enthusiasm, and support of our residents, the fundraiser was a tremendous success and a wonderful example of our community coming together to make a difference in the lives of others.
