Visits to Altafulla Montserrat Castle are limited, as it is a private residence of the Marquesses of Tamarit. Guided tours of around 30 minutes are usually on the first Tuesday and last Saturday of each month.

Morning sessions: 10:00, 11:00, 11:45, 12:30
Closed during Easter week, July, and August
Free entry, but advance booking is required

What you can see

Access is limited to the garden area and the Renaissance gallery. The castle dates back to 1059 and is fully integrated into the medieval village of Vila Closa.

The visit focused on the main courtyard and key historic areas of the castle.
Includes an introduction to its history as a coastal defensive fortress and noble residence.

⏱️ 2-hour tour

A more complete experience with deeper historical explanation and wider access inside the castle.
Includes more interior spaces, architectural details, and a slower pace with time for questions and photos.

I can't wait to visit both castles later on.

I love visiting Tarragona. It’s about 40 minutes by car from us or around one hour by train.

I’ve been to Tarragona a few times when I’ve had visitors. It’s a great place for some shopping, but what I love most are the old historic buildings and the atmosphere of the city.

Tarragona was known as Tarraco during Roman times and became one of the most important Roman cities on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Romans established their base here during the Second Punic War around 218 BC and later made it the capital of the province of Hispania Citerior, and then Hispania Tarraconensis.

Roman influence lasted for around 700 years, and many impressive remains can still be seen today, including the amphitheatre, circus, city walls, and aqueduct.

Although Tarragona is much more touristy than my village, it is still fairly small, with just over 140,000 residents, so it feels very manageable to walk around and explore.

This video doesn’t cover all the sites you could see there; it’s simply a glimpse of what we saw the other day.

If you’d asked me 5 years ago if Reus was worth visiting. I would have said only the airport when arriving or leaving.

I had been there several times before, but mostly for shopping outside the centre.

When I finally visited the centre properly, I was amazed by the beautiful buildings.

What I like about Reus is that it’s not very big, or at least the centre isn’t. It feels easy to walk around, and it has really good shopping options.

Reus has around 110,000 residents and is also known as the birthplace of architect Antoni Gaudí.

This visit, my highlight was the vegan café-shop Herbivore Lab. They have such delicious vegan cheese. Next time, I want to try their raw triple chocolate cake.

You could take a flight from Stansted to Reus in 2 hours, and the cheapest tickets at the moment are 17 euros. I used to get them for 5 to 10 pounds at best, but 17 to 25 euros isn’t bad either.

La Pena is a famous viewpoint, and its highest point is close to 1000m.

It is a popular hiking destination, but this time we went by car as we had already done a 3-hour hike earlier that day.

From up there, you can see our village, L’Espluga de Francolí, and the famous Monastery of Poblet.

We then headed down to Casa Forestal de la Pena. The house was created to manage the forest, as the name might indicate, and it opened in 1910.

You can’t go inside the house as it is closed, but you can enjoy the surrounding area. There are tables for a picnic and beautiful forest views all around.

Spirituality, to me, is self-awareness.

It is becoming more aware of your thoughts, your body, and your actions, so you can understand yourself and grow over time.

In my yoga classes, this shows up as learning to observe the mind and thoughts without judgment, and slowly learning to respond with more kindness instead.

Comparison, frustration, jealousy, or self-judgment are very human. Rather than pushing these reactions away, we can begin to notice them and accept them.

Some reactive feelings, like jealousy or not feeling good enough, can be gently transformed into motivation or even admiration.

This is part of the practice for me — not perfection, but awareness and kindness 🤍
