Meet Fasika! 🌟

We’re so proud of Fasika, who recently passed her Grade 8 National Exam and has been promoted to Grade 9! 🎉

History is her favourite subject, and she always works hard and has a strong desire to succeed.

Outside the classroom, Fasika enjoys taking part in our Saturday mentoring sessions, where she continues to build confidence and stay focused on her future. She also loves listening to music, going for walks, and spending time with her friends.

A day filled with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable memories! 🎡✨

Yesterday, 40 of our children and youth enjoyed a special day at Bora Amusement Park. For many, it was their very first visit to an amusement park, making the experience even more special. Seeing their smiles, excitement, and joy throughout the day was truly heartwarming.

A heartfelt thank you to the Bora Kid's Mall & Amusement Park management, especially Emebet Woldehar and the entire Bora team, for your incredible generosity and warm hospitality. Your kindness gave our children memories they will cherish for years to come.

Summer in Full Swing! ☀️💛

Our summer program is off to a wonderful start! Each day, the children are building new skills through language lessons, reading sessions, and creative beadwork while also enjoying plenty of time for safe, active play.

From football, basketball, table tennis, and hand football to other fun group games, the Drop-in Center compound is filled with learning, laughter, and teamwork.

We're grateful to provide a safe and supportive environment where children can learn, play, and make the most of their summer break.

Confidence Starts with a Voice 🎤

Last Saturday, our children took part in an interactive session on public speaking, where they practiced introducing themselves with confidence in front of their peers.

Together, we explored connecting with the audience rather than worrying about nerves. The children also learned simple techniques to improve their speaking skills, including reading aloud regularly and practicing through short video recordings.

It was encouraging to see each child step outside their comfort zone and grow in confidence. Every opportunity to speak is a step toward becoming a confident communicator and using their voice effectively.

We were delighted to welcome Betelhem Mendaye, our Educational Program Coordinator, along with her brother, Yonas Mendaye, and his family from Dallas during their recent visit to Ethiopia.

They spent a joyful day with the children at our Drop-in Center, sharing laughter, conversations, and meaningful moments. The family also generously donated dental hygiene supplies to support our children's health and well-being.

To express their gratitude, the children and staff warmly welcomed our guests and presented them with handmade beaded bracelets, lovingly crafted by the children themselves.

Thank you, Betelhem, Yonas, and your family, for your generosity, kindness, and for making such wonderful memories with our Brave Hearts family.

Some people carry themselves in a way that makes others sit up and take notice. Elias is one of them. His quiet strength, warmth and resilience embody the values at the heart of Brave Hearts Ethiopia.

Elias joined Brave Hearts after losing his father, as his mother worked tirelessly to provide for him and his younger sister.

With his mother as his role model, Elias has grown into a respectful, hardworking and dependable young man. You can always count on him to show up.

Whether he's supporting his family, tutoring younger children, volunteering in his church choir, or travelling to work while studying Accounting at university, Elias approaches every responsibility with quiet determination.

Elias says Brave Hearts gave him the confidence to believe in himself and have faith in a brighter future. One day, he hopes to start his own business and give back to his community. We can’t wait to see that happen!

Celebrating a Milestone! 🎉📚

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our four students: Mekedes, Fasika, Beza, and Hanan. They all successfully passed the 8th Grade National Examination and have advanced to 9th Grade!

A special congratulations to Mekedes, who achieved an exceptional 97.7th percentile, reflecting her hard work and dedication.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our tutors and staff as this success was made possible due to their commitment in supporting the children in our after school programs.

Planning a Summer to Remember! ☀️💛

Last Saturday, we had a child led fun brainstorming session to design this year's summer program based on what matters most to them.

They're excited to bring back favourite activities like football, basketball, tennis, table football, creative arts, drawing, beadwork, tutorials, language classes, and vacation trips. But one idea stood out above the rest: giving back.

The children expressed a desire to organize a clothing donation drive for people living on the streets, reminding us that compassion is just as important as play.

We are proud of the children as this summer is shaping up to be one filled with fun, learning, and kindness

Meet Danawit! 🌟

Danawit is a bright and determined 9th-grade student who lives with her mother. Her favorite subjects are History and Gymnastics. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, and exploring new opportunities to grow.

Since joining Brave Hearts, Danawit has developed greater self-confidence and a stronger belief in her abilities. She particularly enjoys coming to group guidance life skills sessions on Saturdays and computer classes, where she continues to learn valuable skills for her future.

With a passion for understanding and helping others, Danawit dreams of becoming a psychologist one day.
