Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children. We provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Play Leader and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker. We buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams

can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality care. We buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.

We are incredibly fortunate to have so many generous people who give their time, energy, skills and passion to help make a difference to the lives of children and families when they need it most.

From our hospital volunteers and event supporters, crafters and knitters, to our amazing Committee members, incredible Trustees, and dedicated Bereavement Responders – every one of you plays a vital role in helping us provide support, comfort and hope.

Your commitment, kindness and enthusiasm inspire us every day, and we simply couldn't do what we do without you.

💙 Kiltwalk Staff Spotlight 💙

Meet Neil McGregor, our Business Development and Fundraising Manager for the Highlands, who will be taking on the Aberdeen Kiltwalk this Sunday as part of his challenge to raise £10,000 through 10 fundraising challenges this year.

Neil's connection to Archie is a personal one. His son was born 12 weeks premature, and he knows first-hand how important support can be for families during difficult times.

When asked why events like the Kiltwalk matter, Neil said: "Not only do they help raise vital funds, they also raise awareness of who we are, where we work and the families we support."

Fun fact: Neil once appeared on the BBC quiz show Wonderball! 🎉

There is still time to join Team Archie for the Aberdeen Kiltwalk this Sunday. Sign up today and help support babies, children and families across the north of Scotland: https://archie.org/events/kiltwalk-2026/

Helping children and families feel more prepared for a hospital visit can make a huge difference.

That is why we are delighted to have teamed up with Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital to provide the ‘Little Journey’ app 💙 This free app helps children and young people understand what to expect, explore the hospital environment and access games and activities designed to reduce anxiety.

Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and The Archie Foundation have teamed up with ‘Little Journey’ to provide a free app to help prepare children for their hospital visit from the comfort of their own home. This is designed to help prepare you and your child or young person for things like general anaesthetics, blood tests or MRI scans. It also allows you to see around the hospital and the people you may meet, as well as providing a range of relaxation games. Simply download the app to your phone or tablet and select ‘Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital’.

Applied psychologist Amy Cowie explains: “We work with many different families that come to the hospital and we're here to support them with different medical conditions and as they go through treatment and procedures. The Little Journey app is so so useful in our work with families – especially the relaxation and distraction games. I find a lot of young people really like them as well children and parents and they can help to manage anxiety during procedures or just while you’re waiting for your appointment as well.”

Nathan and Jenny had the most fantastic time visiting Summers Nursery in Aberdeen for their cheque presentation celebration, where representatives from all 5 nursery locations came together to mark an incredible year of fundraising!🩵

We are so grateful to have been chosen as their Charity of the Year for 2025. The nurseries chose to fundraise to directly support Archie’s Child Bereavement Service, helping children and families navigate the heartbreak of loss🪁

After a staff member sadly lost her husband, the service was there to support the entire family during such a difficult time. Seeing first-hand the impact this support had, the nursery teams were shown just how vital this service is within our community.

The 5 nurseries were absolutely incredible with their fundraising efforts throughout the year, taking part in the Kiltwalk, hosting coffee mornings, and getting families and local communities involved every step of the way✨

A huge thank you to everyone at Summers Nursery for your continued and unwavering support. We are so incredibly grateful, and together we're delighted to announce that they raised an amazing £16,200.48!! 🎉

We’re also delighted to share that Summers Nursery will be supporting Archie once again this year, this time fundraising for Neonatal Services.

🚭 Today is World No To***co Day 🚭

The day was first established to raise awareness of the dangers of to***co and ni****ne use, today it highlights the importance of creating healthier environments for everyone.

At The Archie Foundation, we continuously saw the negative impact of smoking outside healthcare settings. That’s why we were incredibly proud to install the “No Smoking Buzzer” at NHS Grampian RACH in 2024🏥

The buzzer was introduced to encourage people not to smoke outside the hospital entrance, not only for health reasons, but also because smoking on hospital grounds goes against the law.

Our amazing Project Coordinator, Sarah, worked hard to source and develop the buzzer, which has now been in place for almost two years with really positive results✨

Now, when someone is smoking outside the hospital entrance, the buzzer can be pressed, and prerecorded messages politely ask people not to smoke near the doors. One of the most special parts of the project was working with eight pupils from P1–P5 at Meiklemill School in Ellon. The children created and recorded the messages played through the buzzer.

Thanks to the success of the project, we’re delighted to announce that a second buzzer will soon be installed in Children’s A&E, with the hope of achieving the same positive impact in reducing smoking near the entrance💙

💜 Tiny cuddles, huge benefits 💜

Earlier this month, Aberdeen Neonatal Unit celebrated World Kangaroo Care Day, highlighting the powerful impact of skin-to-skin contact for babies and their families.

Kangaroo care provides comfort, promotes bonding, and supports the health and development of babies receiving neonatal care.

To help mark the occasion, we were delighted to gift every baby on the unit an Archie Bear. 🧸

We are proud to support the incredible families and staff who make moments like these possible, helping create precious connections when they matter most.
