Adams Osteopathy

Adams Osteopathy Hi we are Ben and Louise. As osteopaths, we specialise in helping people manage and move beyond chronic or recurring pain.

Our practice is rooted in empathy, education, and empowerment. Please get in touch to see how we can help you. Hi I'm Ben I'm an Osteopath in the local area and I specialise in long term pain particularly necks. I am an expert in something called classical osteopathy which looks at how the whole body moves together. I use this approach to understand the underlying causes of a specific pain or problem

๐Ÿƒ Does a workout have to be long to make a difference?

Not necessarily.

As Ben explains in this video, doing a little, often, can have an effect. It can be easy to put exercise off because we donโ€™t have time for a full workout, but movement doesnโ€™t always need to take a big chunk out of your day.

A short walk, a few exercises at home or a small amount of strength work all count. And sometimes, making something manageable enough to do regularly is far more useful than waiting for the perfect time to do more.

Small amounts. Done consistently. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’š Why would our patients recommend us?

For this patient, itโ€™s not simply about the treatment he receives, itโ€™s the passion and genuine interest behind it that stands out.

We love what we do, and weโ€™re naturally curious about the human body: understanding why someone may be experiencing a problem, looking beyond the immediate symptoms and working out the best approach for that individual.

Itโ€™s lovely to hear that this passion comes across to our patients, and that itโ€™s one of the reasons they feel confident recommending Adams Osteopathy to others.

Thank you for trusting us with your care. ๐Ÿ’š

Why did I become an osteopath?

For me, it started with a fascination with the human body, how everything connects, adapts and works together.

What drew me to osteopathy was the opportunity to look beyond one individual symptom and think about the whole person. Even after years in practice, I still love that every patient brings a different story and a new problem to understand.

Itโ€™s a profession that continues to make me curious, keeps me learning and, thankfully, still fascinates me all these years later!

๐Ÿ’š How do our patients find us?

One of the things weโ€™re incredibly grateful for at Adams Osteopathy is just how many people come through our doors because someone they know has recommended us.

Choosing who to see when youโ€™re struggling with an ongoing problem can be difficult, and a personal recommendation from someone you trust can make that decision a little easier.

Every recommendation means that someone has felt confident enough in their experience with us to pass our name on, and we never take that for granted.

Thank you to everyone who recommends Adams Osteopathy to their friends and family. It really does mean a lot to us. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿšถ Why can your hip hurt when you walk?

Walking might look simple, but it requires coordinated movement through the feet, ankles, knees, hips, pelvis and spine.

Your hips need to move freely while the muscles around them provide stability and help propel you forwards. If movement or load is being managed differently somewhere in that chain, other areas may have to compensate.

Thatโ€™s why when someone comes to us with hip pain when walking, we donโ€™t automatically assume the problem begins and ends at the hip.

We look at how the whole body is moving and what may be contributing to the symptoms, because where you feel pain isnโ€™t always the whole story. ๐Ÿ’š

After an accident, itโ€™s not always just about where it hurts

Following an accident or injury, we can naturally start to move differently to protect an uncomfortable area.

Over time, those changes can mean other parts of the body have to work differently too , creating patterns of compensation that may persist even as the original injury settles.

This is why, at Adams Osteopathy, we donโ€™t just consider where someone feels their symptoms. We look at their movement, previous injuries and the wider picture to understand what may be contributing to how theyโ€™re feeling now.

๐Ÿ’ป A Saturday morning of all things osteopathyโ€ฆ

This morning we joined the webference!

We were both fortunate to be speakers this morning, itโ€™s also just as valuable to have the opportunity to sit back and listen to our colleagues sharing ideas, hearing different perspectives and continuing the conversations that help us all develop our practice.

One of the things we really enjoy about being part of the institute of classical osteopathy family is the chance to teach, learn and collaborate with our colleagues.

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning! ๐Ÿค“

๐Ÿ’š What feels different about Adams Osteopathy?

For this patient, one of the differences she noticed was that treatment didnโ€™t focus solely on the area that was hurting.

She describes a more holistic approach, looking at how different parts of the body may be contributing and considering the bigger picture rather than treating one area in isolation.

Thatโ€™s an important part of how we approach our patients at Adams Osteopathy: understanding the person as a whole and tailoring treatment to the individual in front of us.

Sometimes where you feel the problem is only one part of the story. ๐Ÿ’š
