“Everything’s normal… so why am I not getting pregnant?”
If you’ve been told everything looks fine, but you’re still not conceiving, you’re not alone. This is one of the most common situations I see in clinic.
Blood tests come back fine.
You’re ovulating.
Scans look normal.
S***m is within expected parameters.
And yet… nothing is happening.
At that point, most people get told to just keep trying.
But in reality, “normal” isn’t the same as “working well enough for conception”. There’s a gap between the two.
What I often see in clinic is that things are technically working, but not quite well enough:
• Ovulation is happening, but it’s a bit weak
• Hormones are in range, but not in a great balance
• The luteal phase is slightly short
• There’s underlying inflammation or stress in the system
• Egg or s***m quality hasn’t really been supported
Individually, these don’t always flag as a problem. But together, they can absolutely slow things down.
Most people I see like this don’t have one big issue, it’s usually a few smaller ones. And when you start addressing them properly, things often begin to shift. That’s the bit that tends to get missed when you’re told everything is “fine”.
If you’re in that position, trying for a while, nothing obvious wrong, but also not getting anywhere, it’s usually worth looking a bit deeper rather than just waiting it out. Because time can matter. And there’s often more we can do than people realise.
This is very much the space I work in as a fertility support trained acupuncturist - working as a fertility detective, looking a bit deeper and joining the dots.
For May only, I’ve opened up a small number of initial fertility appointments at my Bath clinic, with £20 off.
Each session includes a full consultation, as well as a personalised fertility plan and follow-up guidance, so you leave with a clear idea of what to focus on next.
If this feels familiar, you can book in online using the code FERTILITYSTART, and we can look at what might be getting missed.
