🍂 Autumn Equinox Gathering 🍂

The equinox is a moment of pause. Equal light, equal dark. Nature settling into balance.

In TCM, this is the time of the late summer and Earth, the element of nourishment, grounding, and quiet integration. After the outward energy of summer, Earth calls us back to centre.

Join me on Sunday 20th September for my annual Autumn Equinox Gathering.

Yin yoga working with the Earth meridians, seasonal Yoga Nidra, and time to rest in the outdoor sauna or garden as the season turns.

10am — 1pm | £45 | Small group | Private studio near Birchington-on-Sea

Spaces are limited. Email or DM Katya to reserve yours. [email protected]

🌲 Feeling small and insignificant among the trees, and completely at peace with it.

Perhaps that’s exactly what we need sometimes.

💦 We were not made for screens and speed.

We were made for this.

Our lives are too solar. Too much drive, doing, pushing. The soul craves the cooling softness of water.

Let things flow rather than force them.

We are nature too. Not visiting it. Part of it.

When did you last sit beside moving water? 💦

The Summer Solstice is near. The peak of Yang. The longest day.

In Chinese medicine, summer belongs to the Fire element. It is the season of warmth, connection, and radiance. At its centre sits the Heart, home of the Shen, our spirit, the light behind our eyes.

When the Heart is nourished, we feel joy and clarity. When Fire runs too hot or burns low, we may feel anxious, scattered, or strangely disconnected.

Ten ways to tend your inner fire this summer:

🌞 Rest at noon. The Heart meridian peaks between 11am and 1pm.
🍉 Eat cooling, bitter foods. Watermelon, cucumber, dark leafy greens.
💧 Drink warm or room temperature water, especially with meals.
🌿 Practise heart-opening yoga. Gentle backbends, fish, bridge.
🌊 Spend time near water. It cools Fire and restores balance.
🪷 Meditate on joy. Not forced happiness, the quiet pleasure of being alive.
🌙 Protect your sleep. The Shen rests in the Heart at night.
🤍 Honour solitude. Summer pulls us outward. The Heart needs both.
🔥 Connect with meaning. What truly matters to you? Let that be your compass.
🙏 Offer gratitude. Joy deepens when we acknowledge what we already have.

So looking forward to exploring this together at our sold out Summer Solstice Yin Yoga and Sound Workshop on 19th June. Heart-opening practice, alchemy crystal singing bowls, and the magic of the longest day. ☀️🔥✨

What a beautiful way to welcome June ☀️🌖

After a soggy hike the evening before, we watched the sun rise and the moon set over the mountains.

Then came a mountaintop wedding. Congratulations to the newlyweds, and may your future together be every bit as beautiful as the view 🥂

Weekend reminder: make some time to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures in life ☀️🌾🌖

When You Don’t Have Time, Pause

In this busy world
you may not feel you have time to slow down.
Hours rush past,
a blur of noise and tasks,
and you tell yourself
that rest can wait.

When your thoughts are tangled,
when your breath feels shallow,
when the day presses hard against you,
pause.
When you don’t have time, that’s when you need it most, pause.

Even for a few moments.
Let your shoulders drop,
unclench your jaw,
and listen
to the quiet that still lives
beneath the noise.

You don’t have to step away for long.
Start with a single breath,
a sip of something warm.
Notice the morning light
filtering through the trees outside.
Feel the soft weight of a blanket
around your shoulders.
Simply be,
right here, right now.

These small pauses are enough.
They remind you
that life isn’t only about doing, achieving, or moving forward.
It’s about being,
breathing,
returning to yourself.

Slowing down
doesn’t mean falling behind.
It means meeting the day with presence,
carrying quiet steadiness
into everything you do.

Even a few moments
can reset the world inside you,
letting calm bloom quietly,
patiently,
in the simplicity of this moment.

Last night I taught my final weekly class. 💗

Eleven years. I can hardly believe it. Many of you have been with me for ten of those years. You’ve seen me grow, change, and find my way. And some of you only just arrived, and I’m so glad you did.

The messages, emails, cards and gifts so many of you have sent have genuinely touched me and filled my heart with so much love. Thank you for taking the time. 💖

Teaching you has been one of the great privileges of my life. The stillness and connection we’ve found together in that special room will stay with me forever.

This isn’t the end. Just a new beginning, taking a different form.

I can’t wait to see what unfolds and hope you will join me.

All my love 🩷

Cooling
Grounding
Recharging

We all need it in this age of “too-muchness”. Too much heat, inflammation, noise, stimulation, saying yes to everything.

This is your permission to slow down. To take up space. To simply be.

Come and fill up your cup ☕️✨

As we move into the final week of my weekly classes, we’ll be slowing down together with Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra. This is your space to soften, release, and return to tranquility and ease.

Unlike yin yoga, where there is still sensation and gentle effort as we work into the connective tissues, restorative yoga invites complete surrender. With the support of props and grounding postures, the body is encouraged to fully let go, rest deeply, and reset the nervous system.

This is your invitation to pause, be held, and receive.

Come and say goodbye as I transition from weekly classes to more spacious offerings this Autumn.

There are a few drop-in space on Monday evening at 6pm and Tuesday morning at 10am. Message me if you’d like to come 🩷
