The Cup & Treat Technique, Watch Your Child’s Focus TRANSFORM!

Hide a snack or small treat under one of 3 cups, then slowly shuffle them around. Ask your child to track which cup is hiding the treat!

Why it works:
👁️ Trains visual tracking and eye focus
🧠 Builds working memory and concentration
🎯 Keeps kids naturally motivated — because there’s a reward at the end!

⏱️ Just 5 minutes a day can make a big difference
How to start:

Did you know your child’s iPad could actually help them start talking?

If your child struggles to ask for what they want, try this simple strategy we use at SENtre 👇

Step 1 — Put it on the screen
Step 2 — Wait for them to go to the device
Step 3 — Model the word out loud
Step 4 — Reward immediately
Step 5 — Fade the device over time

The device isn’t replacing speech. It’s building the bridge to it.
This is the kind of everyday strategy that creates real, lasting progress — and it’s exactly what we teach parents at SENtre through our therapy sessions.

Does your child struggle with certain sounds, textures, or environments? You’re not alone, and understanding their triggers is the first step to helping them thrive. 💛

Sensory triggers in autism can include:
* Excessive activity
* Bright or flickering lights
* Uncomfortable clothing textures
* Strong smells or food textures
* Crowded or busy spaces

When children feel overwhelmed by sensory input, it can lead to anxiety, meltdowns, or shutdowns not “bad behaviour”. Their nervous system is working overtime.

At SENtre, we use a tailored, autism-friendly approach to help children manage sensory challenges and build confidence in everyday life, through therapy, play, and practical parent support.

Welcome back to Parents Corner.

Today we need to talk about something so many of you have messaged us about… The wait for a diagnosis. 😔

You KNOW your child. You’ve known something wasn’t quite right for a while now.

You’ve brought it up at school. You’ve mentioned it to the GP.
You’ve filled in the forms. And still… you’re waiting.

Being told to wait more. Maybe even being told you’re overthinking it. 💔

And it’s exhausting. And lonely. And incredibly frustrating.
But here’s what we want you to hear today 👇

- Be persistent.
- Chase the referral.
- Ask for it in writing.
- Request the assessment.
- Go back to the GP.

You are not being difficult, you are being your child’s biggest advocate. And that matters more than anything. 💛

You know your child better than any waiting list does. Don’t let anyone silence that.

Drop a 💛 below if you’ve been through the diagnosis journey, you are not alone.

“How long until I see changes?” — one of the most common questions we get asked.

And the honest answer? It depends on your child. 🌱
For some children, you’ll notice small shifts within weeks. A new word. A calmer morning. A task completed independently for the first time. 🎉

For others, progress is slower. Happening beneath the surface before it ever shows up in a moment you can see. 🌊
And that’s not failure. That’s just YOUR child’s timeline. 💬

What we do know is this,,consistency, the right strategies and a whole lot of patience always moves the needle. Maybe not as fast as we’d like. But it moves. 🌱

At SENtre, we never rush a child’s journey. We meet them exactly where they are. 🦒✨

“The way you speak to your child becomes their inner voice tomorrow.”

The words we use with our children don’t just disappear after the conversation ends, they stay. They shape how your child sees themselves, how they handle challenges, and how they talk to themselves when things get hard. 🌱

As parents and carers, we carry so much. And it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being mindful. Choosing words that build up, not tear down. Words that say “you can do this” even on the hardest days. 💬

At SENtre, everything we do is rooted in encouragement, patience and belief in every child’s potential. Because every child deserves to carry a kind voice with them. 🦒✨

The meltdown that follows isn’t defiance.
The tears aren’t manipulation.
The shutdown isn’t rudeness.

It’s overflow.

When a child’s cup is full, from sensory input, emotions, transitions, noise, social demands, there is simply no more room. That one small request becomes the thing that tips it all over. And it looks like “bad behaviour” to the outside world. But to your child?

They are completely overwhelmed and have no way to tell you. 💔
This is why understanding YOUR child’s cup matters so much. What fills it. What drains it. And how to create space before it reaches the top. 🌱

At SENtre, we help children AND their families understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, so you can support your child before the overflow happens. 💛🦒

Struggling to keep your child focused on a task? A token ticking chart might just be your new best friend! 🎯

Here’s how it works 👇
🟢 Break the task into small, manageable steps
🟡 Each step completed = a token earned
🔴 Ticks add up to a reward they love!

The visual structure gives your child a clear roadmap, reducing anxiety and boosting motivation, one tick at a time. ⏱️

At SENtre, we use simple, powerful strategies like this every day to help children with additional needs build confidence and independence. 💛
