There’s a version of parenting nobody prepares you for. The one where you celebrate milestones other parents don’t think twice about.

Where you’ve Googled things at 2am that you never thought you’d need to know. Where you’ve sat in a car park after a meltdown, just breathing, before you can walk back inside.

If that’s you, we see you. 🧡

At SENtre, we know that supporting your child means supporting you too. Because you’re not just managing appointments and therapies and routines. You’re carrying the weight of wanting to get it right, every single day, often with no manual and no one who quite understands.

So for your child, we bring:
- Speech & communication support that meets them exactly where they are
- Sensory play that helps them feel safe in their own body
- Behaviour support that looks past the moment to the “why”
- Toilet training with patience no timelines, no pressure, just progress

And for you, we bring:
- A team that actually listens, not just nods along
- Parent training with strategies that work in real life, not just on paper
- A space where you can exhale, even just for an hour

Toilet training. The thing every parent dreads asking about, and every SEN parent has probably cried over at least once. 😅💛

It’s not “just” a milestone. For a lot of our families, it’s sleepless nights, endless googling, and feeling like you’re doing something wrong when actually, you’re just doing something hard.🧻

At SENtre, we don’t do generic timelines or “just be consistent” advice that doesn’t account for sensory needs, communication differences, or your child’s own pace.

Some days will feel like progress. Some days won’t. Both are part of it, and you don’t have to navigate either one alone.

If toilet training feels like the mountain right now, we’re here to help you climb it!

* Routine doesn’t stop because school does- children with additional needs thrive on structure and six weeks of unplanned days can be really hard.

* Your child deserves to have fun too, not just managed. not just supervised. actually, genuinely having fun in a space built around their needs 🌟

* You need a break and that’s okay to say -caring for a child with SEN is full on. having dedicated, specialist childcare isn’t a luxury. it’s necessary.

* Progress doesn’t have to pause- at SENtre, holiday club isn’t just childcare, it’s therapy-informed, meaning your child keeps building skills even outside of term time.

* They’re in safe hands- DBS checked staff, safeguarding trained, sensory-friendly environment. you can actually switch off knowing your child is exactly where they need to be 🤍

SENtre’s holiday club is open this summer, spaces are limited. Secure your space in the link in the bio before the 15th July

Top Tip Tuesday 💙 how to create boundaries with your SEN child
boundaries aren’t about being strict, they’re about creating the safety and predictability your child needs to feel secure.
here’s how to make them work ⬇️

* keep them simple and consistent
* use visuals where you can
* give warnings before transitions
* stay calm when they’re tested
* celebrate when they get it right

Positive reinforcement goes a long way. acknowledge the wins, however small, it builds trust and makes the boundary feel safe rather than punishing 🌟
save this for the next time you need a reminder 💙

the diagnosis isn’t a label, it’s a door 🔑

so many parents put off seeking a diagnosis for their child. worried about what it means. worried about the process. worried about what people will think.

but here’s what a diagnosis actually gives you ⬇️

access to the right support- without a formal diagnosis, so many doors stay closed. A diagnosis is often what unlocks them.

answers you’ve needed for a long time - if you’ve spent months or years knowing something is different but not knowing why, a diagnosis gives that feeling a name. and that matters more than people realise.

a starting point, not an ending - it doesn’t change who your child is. it just means the support around them can finally match who they are

validation for you as a parent- you weren’t imagining it. you weren’t overreacting. you were right to keep pushing and a diagnosis proves that.

a community who gets it- once you have a diagnosis, you find your people. other parents, specialists, spaces like SENtre built specifically for children like yours.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence about pursuing a diagnosis, this is your sign to take that next step 🌟

You don’t have to navigate this alone. link in bio to find out how SENtre can support your family 💙

Before your child touches a single piece, ask them to look at the picture and describe what they see first!

“What colours do you see?” “What do you think goes in the corner?” “Where should we start?”

Why saying it first works:
* Activates their thinking brain before they act
* Trains observation skills and patience
* Builds problem-solving before rushing in
* Reduces frustration because they already have a mental plan

What you’ll notice:
✅ They slow down and think
✅ They stay at the task longer
✅ They feel MORE confident when pieces fit
✅ Less “I can’t do it!” and more “I’ve got this!”
