🌟 Meet The Team🌟
💕Name: Ffion
💚 Role: Health Care Support Worker (district nursing team)
🏡 How long have you been part of the district nursing team?
I’ve been part of the district nursing team for 2 years.
💚 What inspired you to become a Health Care Support Worker?
Growing up, I never really knew what I wanted to do. However, I’ve always had a natural knack for helping and supporting people. I remember one of my secondary school teachers saying, “I think you’ll end up doing something where you help people, Ffion.” At the time, I didn’t believe her! Then COVID happened while I was in college. Seeing first-hand the incredible care and support the NHS provided to both patients and their families made me realise that’s exactly what I wanted to be part of. I joined the NHS as a Health Care Support Worker during the pandemic and went straight onto the wards, helping people through one of the most difficult times many of them had ever faced. From that moment, I knew I’d found the right career.
✨ What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love getting to know my patients as people, not just as patients. Being able to make a difference, whether it’s something big or something as simple as making someone smile means so much to me. As Community Health Care Support Workers, we often meet people at some of the most vulnerable points in their lives. If I can make things just a little easier or provide reassurance, that’s incredibly rewarding. I also genuinely love the medical side of the job. I find wounds, blood tests, catheters and learning new clinical skills fascinating. Most of all, I love being part of such a supportive team and being able to help my patients, their families and my colleagues every day.
☕ Tea or coffee?
Definitely tea! ☕ It has to be a proper builder’s tea… and no sugar! 😋
🌍 Favourite place you’ve visited?
I’ve been lucky enough to visit lots of amazing places, but nothing beats standing at the top of the French Alps just before sunrise. Watching the sun slowly appear over the mountains before skiing down is an unforgettable experience—it’s like something straight out of a movie.
🍣 Favourite food?
It changes all the time because I love savoury food, but at the moment I’d have to say sushi!
✨ A fun fact about you:
I’m a bit of an adrenaline ju**ie! I love hiking, sports, motorbikes, zip lining, rollercoasters and anything that gets the adrenaline
going.
💕Thank you Ffion for the amazing support you provide to both the surgery and district nursing team!
