The long, dry spell might be lovely for barbecues and evenings in the garden, but it’s much tougher for our local wildlife.

When the ground becomes hard and dry, it can be difficult for hedgehogs, birds and other garden visitors to find the water and food they need. A few simple acts of kindness can make a real difference:

• Leave out a shallow dish or container of fresh water, topping it up daily.
• If you have hedgehogs visiting, you can leave out a little meat-based wet cat or dog food in the evening, along with fresh water. Please don’t leave out milk or bread, as these can make hedgehogs unwell.
• Leave a few areas of your garden a little wild to provide shade, shelter and somewhere for insects to thrive.

Here at Silver Assist Homecare, some of our wonderful clients love caring for the wildlife that visits their gardens. As part of our visits, we’re supporting them to refill water dishes, put out a little food for their prickly visitors, and continue enjoying the birds, hedgehogs and other wildlife that bring so much joy.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness have the biggest impact – for both people and nature. 🦔💚

We couldn’t resist sharing a few more photos from our wonderful day at Caswell Bay! 🌊☀️

A day filled with fresh sea air, laughter, fish and chips, ice cream, and lots of special memories. These are the moments that remind us why we love what we do.

We think it’s fair to say everyone had a whale of a time… even if the seagulls thought the chips were for them! 🐦🍟❤️

A sneak preview of our day at the seaside☀️🌊🍦

Today we swapped care plans for beach towels as our clients and carers headed off to beautiful Caswell Bay for a day full of laughter, fresh sea air and making memories.

From paddling in the sea and racing along the beach to enjoying fish and chips followed by a well-earned ice cream, it really was one of those perfect summer days. The weather couldn't have been kinder!

A huge thank you to Williams Coaches, and especially our fantastic driver, Andrew, for getting us there and back safely and making the journey such a smooth and enjoyable one.

We'd also like to give a very special shout-out to Surfability UK CIC. They very kindly provided us with three beach access wheelchairs, which meant our clients with mobility difficulties could enjoy the beach alongside everyone else, rather than watching from the sidelines. Their commitment to making the beach accessible for everyone is nothing short of incredible. Surfability is a Community Interest Company dedicated to making coastal activities inclusive through specialist equipment and support for people with disabilities, illnesses, injuries and learning difficulties.

If you're ever visiting Caswell Bay with a loved one who has mobility challenges, we can't recommend Surfability UK highly enough. They helped turn a lovely day into a truly unforgettable one.

Days like today remind us that care is about so much more than support at home—it's about creating opportunities, sharing experiences and making memories together. Thanks, as always, to our wonderful team for helping bring together such a memorable day. ❤️

A lovely evening spent with some of our team and their families at Brecon Bowls Club.

A huge thank you to Brecon Bowls Club for making us feel so welcome, serving up a fantastic spread, and doing their very best to turn us into bowls champions. Some of us showed real promise… others discovered that the jack isn’t actually the target you throw at! 😂 Thankfully, there were no workplace injuries to report… unless bruised egos count! 😄

If you’re looking for something a little different to do with your family or friends, we’d thoroughly recommend giving bowls a go. It’s a surprisingly fun way to spend an afternoon or evening, there’s a great bar, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of friendly members on hand to help you find your way—whether it’s around the green or just the rules! 🎯

A big thank you to everyone who came along. We have the best team, and it’s always lovely to spend time together outside of work. Here’s to many more evenings like this! 💙

Does anybody have a wheelchair we could borrow for Wednesday? 💙

We’re taking a lovely group of our clients on a long-awaited trip to Caswell Bay this Wednesday, something they’ve all been looking forward to for weeks.

Unfortunately, one of our ladies has recently become suddenly less mobile, and we’d really love to make sure she doesn’t miss out on the day.

Does anyone happen to have a wheelchair that we could borrow for Wednesday? We’d take great care of it and return it as soon as we’re back.

If you’re able to help, or know someone who might be, please send us a message. We’d be incredibly grateful, and you’d be helping make sure someone can still enjoy a special day by the sea. 🌊☀️

We've got great news!

For the third consecutive year, Silver Assist Homecare has been recognised as one of the Top 20 Home Care Providers in Wales by Homecare.co.uk.

To receive this award once is a huge honour. To receive it three years running is something we are incredibly proud of, and we don't take it for granted for a single moment.

This recognition is only possible because of the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by our amazing team of carers every single day. Whether it's providing practical support, sharing a smile, offering reassurance, or simply being there when it matters most, our carers consistently go above and beyond for the people we support. We cannot thank them enough for everything they do.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our clients and their families for the trust they place in us. It is a privilege to be welcomed into your homes and to play a part in supporting your independence, wellbeing and quality of life. Your feedback, encouragement and support continue to inspire us to be the very best we can be.

When we started Silver Assist Homecare, our vision was simple: to provide the kind of care we would want for our own loved ones. Awards are wonderful, but what matters most to us is the difference we make in the lives of the people we support and the relationships we build along the way.

As we celebrate this achievement, we remain committed to learning, improving and continuing to raise the bar for home care in our community.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey so far. This award belongs to all of us.
