Match day preparation starts long before kick off 🏉

From checking medical supplies and expiry dates, to speaking with players, preparing taping equipment, reviewing paperwork and packing pitch side bags, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before a game even starts.

The goal is simple: be prepared for whatever the day throws at you.

(And yes, Haribo is considered an essential piece of kit 😂)

Knee pain isn’t always a knee problem 👀

One of the biggest mistakes people make is focusing solely on where it hurts.

Sometimes the painful area is simply compensating for something that isn’t working properly elsewhere.

In this case, reduced hip mobility and poor pelvic stability were placing extra load through the knee, causing irritation as training volume increased ⚠️

That’s why a proper assessment matters because treating symptoms and understanding causes are two very different things.

If you’ve got a recurring injury or pain that doesn’t seem to make sense, book in for a sports rehab assessment through the link in my bio 💙

Struggling with bend, balance or consistency on one rein? 😫

Whilst it’s important to investigate any physical issues with the horse, sometimes rider asymmetries and movement habits can play a bigger role than we realise.

If you’re gripping through one leg, loading one side more heavily, or using the reins to stabilise yourself, your horse will often compensate for that movement pattern.

EQ Bands provide real time proprioceptive feedback, helping you identify imbalances and improve awareness, stability and communication in the saddle.

Because sometimes the missing piece isn’t another schooling exercise, it’s understanding how your own movement is influencing your horse.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the horse world is that every movement issue starts with the horse.

Because sometimes it does.

But sometimes rider asymmetry, stability issues, movement habits and body awareness can have a huge influence on how a horse moves and performs 💙

EQ Bands provide real time proprioceptive feedback, helping riders identify imbalances and compensation patterns that may be affecting communication, position and performance in the saddle.

You and your horse are meant to work as a team and sometimes the key to helping your horse move better starts with understanding your own movement first.

Losing the same stirrup repeatedly isn’t always a riding issue.

Sometimes it’s a sign of an underlying imbalance, stability issue, or movement pattern that your body has adapted to over time.

EQ Bands provide real time proprioceptive feedback, helping you become more aware of asymmetries, weaknesses and compensation patterns that may be affecting your position and communication with your horse.

The goal isn’t to make you ride differently overnight.

It’s to help you understand how you move, identify what might be holding you back and build a stronger, more stable foundation both on and off the horse.

Most people think their appointment starts when they walk into clinic.

In reality, the preparation starts before you arrive.

Reviewing notes, checking rehab progress, looking at exercise compliance, preparing equipment and planning the session all help make sure your appointment is focused on what you need that day.

Because good rehab isn’t about making it up as we go along, it’s about having a plan and adapting it when needed.

(And yes... I can see whether you’ve done your exercises 👀😂)

EQ Bands aren’t just for riding sessions 🐎

They’re an incredibly useful tool for improving balance, stability, strength, coordination and body awareness off the horse too.

These are 5 exercises I regularly use with riders who want to improve their position, develop better control and become more aware of how they move.

Because if you can’t control your own movement, it’s very difficult to influence your horse’s.
