A little reminder when ordering your medicines...

11/09/2026

There have been around 14 million consultations through the pharmacy first service since it launched in February 2024.

You can get treatment for these conditions from your local community pharmacist, including some prescription medicine, if needed – without you seeing a GP.

From this autumn, participating pharmacies will be able to assess and treat 5 additional common conditions:

- migraine in adults
- outer ear infections in adults
- acne in young people and adults
- mild skin infections and scabies
- seasonal allergic rhinitis in children

UTIs are common in older adults and can sometimes become serious if left untreated.

Knowing how to lower your risk and recognising the early signs can help prevent complications.

If you think you may have a UTI, make sure you are drinking enough fluids to stay hydrated and seek advice from a healthcare professional. This could be your GP, nurse, community pharmacist, walk-in centre or NHS 111.

If your child is preparing to start school, there’s still time to help them build confidence using the toilet on their own 🚽📚

Small, consistent steps can make a real difference. A simple conversation about what's changing can help children feel more prepared and start understanding what toilet training is all about.

Remember, every child develops differently and some children, including those with additional needs, may need more support. Focus on progress, not perfection, and take things one step at a time 👣

Visit Best Start in Life or speak with your health visitor or for more trusted advice and practical tips on toilet training.
