Not every muscle scraping treatment looks the same…

My client .odudu is a keen yoga enthusiast with an excellent level of flexibility, allowing me to approach his treatment a little differently.

Rather than sticking to standard body positioning during his treatment, we work with more exaggerated movements to treat the muscles as they are stretched. In this case, the IT bands, glutes and adductors are placed under greater stretch during treatment.

This is a great example of why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Every client is different. Their flexibility, mobility, training demands and individual needs all influence how I approach each treatment.

It’s not just about the tools I use, it’s about how I adapt the treatment to the person in front of me.

Desk job all day. Gym session at night. Sound familiar?

Hours spent sitting at a desk, followed by regular training, can leave your neck, traps, shoulders, arms and upper back feeling tight and overworked.

Prolonged sitting and repetitive movements at work, combined with the demands of training, can contribute to muscular tension, stiffness and reduced mobility.

These are the areas I often focus on during muscle scraping treatments to help ease muscular tightness, support mobility and complement your recovery.

You put the hours in at work and the effort in at the gym… make sure you look after your body too!

Costochondritis…🤔

As a barber who regularly trained in the gym, this client was used to keeping active. But costochondritis had been affecting his ability to feel and perform at his best.

Costochondritis causes inflammation of the cartilage connecting the ribs to the breastbone, often resulting in chest pain and discomfort.

Whilst scraping doesn’t treat the inflammation itself, it may help address associated muscular tension and soft-tissue discomfort around the upper back and shoulders.

The aim is to support muscular comfort and movement, helping clients work towards getting back to the activities they enjoy. 💪

Great to have in for treatment recently to help with his preparations for his upcoming fight on 24th October .hideout.arena 🥊.

This session focused on legs and lower back to support movement, recovery and performance.

Every session is about helping him feel and move at his best as fight night gets closer. 💪🔥

His missus, Charlotte was on hand to provide the finishing touches too 🙌😂

A regular client, an honest review, and a bit of banter! 😂

❓Why did he start with muscle scraping treatments?
❓How often does he get it done?
❓How does he feel afterwards?
❓And what would he say to anyone still on the fence?

Watch until the end… his advice might just convince you! 💪🔥

Scaffolder by day. HYROX athlete by choice. Lower back pain as a result?

The demands of heavy manual work combined with intense training can put serious stress on the body.

At the start of this session, I noticed a visual leg length discrepancy (yes, visual…for those wanting me to measure from the anterior superior iliac spine to the medial malleolus…you know who you are). Even this small difference can potentially affect pelvic positioning, causing the body to compensate and placing extra strain on the lower back.

Following treatment, his alignment APPEARED (not measured) more even. 👀

Sometimes, the source of the pain isn’t where you think it is!

“Si, do you ever have muscle scraping yourself?” 👀

Absolutely! Spending hours treating clients means I’m regularly working in different positions, leaning over the treatment table and putting my own back, shoulders and arms through their paces.

So, every now and again, it’s my turn to get on the table and give these areas some attention! 💪

As you can see, there’s a bit of redness to show for it! 🔥

This session was carried out by a trainee therapist being put through his paces by Rick Howarth | Muscle Scraping before taking the treatment back to Romania 🇷🇴👏. I was acting as the client to provide him with feedback on his practice.

Even the muscle scrapers needs a scrape sometimes! 😂

Big thanks to and from for coming in for a treatment this week 💪🏼

For bodybuilders, the combination of heavy lifting, high training volume and repetitive movements can leave certain areas feeling tight and restricted.

Muscle scraping can be a useful addition to their recovery routine, helping to improve mobility, reduce the feeling of muscular tightness and keep the body moving well between training sessions.

Another tool in the toolbox to support hard training and recovery. 👊🏼

If you’re training hard and feeling like your body could use a little extra attention, feel free to drop me a message .themusclescraper to book a treatment. 📩
