World No To***co Day is Sunday 31 May.

Stopping smoking is one of the most significant things you can do for your long-term health. It reduces your risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and lung conditions.

If you want support to quit, speak to us, or visit the NHS Better Health programme.

Temperatures are rising this week.☀️

Drink water regularly, keep cool indoors, and avoid direct sun during the hottest part of the day. Check on vulnerable neighbours and family members where you can.

Why do reception staff ask questions when you contact the practice?

Our reception team are trained to help patients get the right care, from the right person, as quickly and safely as possible.

The questions they ask can help us:
• understand what support you may need
• direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service
• identify urgent issues more quickly
• help patients access care sooner

Reception staff are not trying to block access to a doctor. They are an important part of the care and triage process, helping the practice manage patient requests safely and efficiently.

Thank you for treating our team with kindness and respect.

Why does Manor View Practice use triage?

Because it helps patients get the right care, from the right clinician, at the right time.

Triage helps us:
• identify urgent problems quickly
• prioritise fairly based on clinical need
• direct patients to the most appropriate service
• make best use of appointments so more patients can be helped safely

It is not designed to create barriers to care. It is how modern GP practices manage high demand safely and effectively.

Our wider clinical team includes GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, mental health workers and more. Triage helps make sure patients are seen by the clinician best placed to help.

Thank you for working with us and helping us care for the community safely.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

If your mental health has been difficult lately, you do not have to manage it on your own, and you do not need to know exactly who to contact first.

Start with the practice. Complete an online triage form or call us and tell us how you have been feeling. Mental health concerns are reviewed like any other health issue, and you may be offered support from a GP or another clinician who is best placed to help.

You can also self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies without needing an appointment:
https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/mental-health/find-an-NHS-talking-therapies-service/

If you need urgent mental health support, call 111 and select the mental health option. In an emergency, or if life is at risk, call 999.

Asking for help is a step worth taking.

It was great to host our PPG AGM at MVP Watford last night.

A big thank you to Lesley Palumbo and the PPG team for organising the evening. We were also joined by an NHS App representative, nutritionist Rachna Acharya (HealthiUp), and one of our patients, Danny Phillips FAB Training, an accredited first aid instructor.

A valuable opportunity to connect with our community, share practical support, and continue improving access to care.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter. 🐣
