On an average day, you blink around 20,000 times, mostly without thinking about it.

Blinking keeps your eyes clean, moist, and protected. The problem is screens. When we stare at a phone, laptop, or TV, we blink far less than usual, which leaves eyes feeling dry, tired, and strained.

If you spend a lot of time on screens, try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It gives your eyes a genuine rest.

Persistent dry or tired eyes are worth mentioning to your optician.

Men are 40% less likely to visit their GP than women.

The gap has real consequences. Cancers caught late, mental health crises that could have been managed, conditions that go untreated for years.

If you are a man, or you care about one, this week is a prompt to make that appointment.

Seeing the same clinician over time matters. They build an understanding of your history, your patterns, and what is normal for you. It leads to better decisions and fewer gaps.

When you contact us, let us know if you have a preferred clinician. We will do our best.

5.8 million people in the UK are unpaid carers. Many do not see themselves as one.
If you look after someone regularly, even informally, that counts. Tell your GP or care coordinator. It can affect your own health in ways that deserve attention.
