June is Cataract Awareness Month 🙌

We’re joining Sight Research UK to raise awareness about cataracts. 65% of people diagnosed with cataracts had no idea they had the condition!

Cataracts form when the lens inside your eye, which is usually clear, starts becoming cloudy. Over time, this can grow, leading to blurry or misty vision and, in very severe cases, even blindness.

The good news. We are able to detect early cataracts through your routine eye examination. Sometimes even a simple update to your prescription can make all the difference. If not, then thankfully, treatment is readily available. In fact, surgery to remove cataracts is the most common operation in the NHS.

Meet Polly, one of our Optometrists here at Pybus Opticians, who's been part of the team for 4 years now.

Polly is a natural problem-solver and loves helping people feel confident in their vision, whether that’s finding the right prescription, supporting long-term eye health, or putting patients at ease during their appointments. 🙌

When she's not at work she loves socialising with friends, running, walking, skiing, and cycling. She even recently ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon, raising money for RNIB. 🏃‍♀️
