If you have an immediate relative with glaucoma, this increases the risk of you developing glaucoma in your lifetime by 4 times.

While genetics does play a role in eye health, there are lots of other things you can do to help reduce the risks:

- Don’t smoke
- Exercise regularly
- Monitor your blood pressure
- Eat well and sleep well
- Reduce stress levels

Most importantly, ensure you have a regular eye examinations because the earlier glaucoma is detected, the better the outcome.
