We’re proud to have supported the production of this film with Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru / Social Care Wales to mark the launch of the new Codes of Professional Practice for social care in Wales, which come into effect today, 1 July 2026.

The updated codes set out what’s expected of both workers and employers, helping to protect the public and uphold high standards across the sector.

We often share feedback from our residents and their families, after all, their voices are incredibly important to us. Today, we’re delighted to share something a little different, but just as special 💜

Louise recently visited Cwmbran House with her brother as they begin the journey of finding the right home for their mum, somewhere that not only meets her care needs, but also gives them confidence and peace of mind.

Following her visit, Louise shared how grateful she and her brother were for the warm welcome they received:

"Following a visit to Cwmbran House this morning, I am writing to thank you most sincerely for the time Leanne (Admissions) gave to my brother Philip and me. We are extremely grateful for the warm welcome and the care Leanne took in showing us around and answering our questions so thoughtfully.

"We wanted you to know how incredibly impressed we both were with everything we saw today. It was abundantly clear that residents are truly at the heart of all that you do. The cleanliness, the beautifully fresh-smelling corridors and the cosy, comfortable spaces, both indoors and outdoors, were all truly impressive. We have heard some great things about your residential home and we were not disappointed!

"Cwmbran House is an absolute credit to every member of staff. It is evident that there is a deep sense of passion, pride and commitment in everything you do and this creates such a nurturing and uplifting environment. We would be delighted if it were possible to secure a place for our Mum at Cwmbran House. It is clearly a place where she would receive first-class care, in surroundings that would lift her spirits and bring her great comfort and joy."

This sun has got its hat on, and so should you! ☀️

Lots of us look forward to the hot weather, but it’s important to remember that heatwaves can affect our health.

A heatwave can impact anyone, but some people are more at risk, including older people, babies and young children, and those with health conditions and illnesses.

Here are a few simple tips to help you stay safe in the heat:
Stay out of the sun if you can - If you do go outside, try to stay in the shade and remember to wear sun cream, a hat and light clothing 🧢

Keep cool and hydrated - Eat lighter, cooler foods and drink plenty of fluids. It’s best to avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks when it’s very warm. A cool shower or even just splashing cool water on your skin or clothes can really help 💦

Keep your home cool - Close windows, curtains and blinds during the day to keep the heat out, and open them at night when it’s cooler 🏠
