Memory Tables

At Stuart Foster Funeral Services we continually listen to grieving families as to what they would like for their loved ones farewell.

At The Butterfly Rooms (our own ceremony and wake venue) we have now dedicated a quiet area to a memory table if families choose to have this option.

This is a quiet area dedicated during the wake at The Butterfly Rooms where mourners, should they wish to, can write a favourite memory or a funny story of the loved one and place it in a memory box.

These memory boxes can then be kept forever and if current generations are having a tough time through their grief they can sit and read all the lovely memories and messages mourners wrote on the day. Also if future generations want to learn about their family they may not have had chance to meet in life they can turn to the memory box and enjoy special times.

Derek Hallett (Charlie) passed away peacefully at Ivelhurst Nursing Home 24th August 2026 aged 89

Loving Husband to Sheila
Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and a good friend to many.
Dedicated Planning Engineer at Westlands for over 40 Years and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Irene Wilson passed away unexpectidly 16th August 2026 aged 86.

Mother to Andrew, Janet & Martin. Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a good frind to many that will be sadly missed. Also, the lady that would always adopt a stray cat whenever she could.

David Boyland passed away on 13th August 2026 at Beauchamp House Care Home.

A loving husband to Terri, father to Mike and Pete and a good friend to many, who will be sadly missed.

The most common question I get asked as a Funeral Director is “how do you deal with what you deal with everyday?”
The answer is - my role in my life is a privilege, families come to me and entrust me with the most precious person to them, yes I see grief all day long but what I see there is love. My role is to support humans as their love for somebody is at one of its highest points. I get to cradle them and guide them. The responsibility is immense and high pressure to provide the perfect way for them to say farewell for the last time, but my biggest achievement with every family after the funeral is 2 words ……… “Thank you”.
Many families say “we couldn’t have done this without you” and that makes my role the most rewarding role I have ever had in my life. When we lose somebody a fog comes down around us and I am chosen to be the hand that appears through the fog to guide you, and say “I’ve got you”.
So I say it’s true - love really is all around us.
Love each other, be kind to each other and most of all, enjoy each other ❤️
