👩‍💻Fertility apps can be helpful

👉🏻But they’re predicting ovulation, not confirming it.

👉🏻Most apps use averages and algorithms based on cycle length, which means they can easily get your fertile window wrong if:

• you ovulate earlier or later
• your cycle changes month to month
• stressed
• coming off contraception
• or dealing with hormone imbalances

And this matters more than most women realise 👀

🕵️‍♀️ Because even progesterone blood tests are often timed using these predicted ovulation dates

👉🏻So if ovulation happened later than the app assumed, a day 21 progesterone test can be done too early and miss what’s actually happening hormonally

This is why I always encourage women to learn THEIR body:

✨ cervical mucus
✨ basal body temperature
✨ ovulation tests
✨ symptoms + cycle patterns

Because your hormones don’t run on an app’s schedule.

• recurrent miscarriage
• failed implantation
• endometriosis
• BV
• chronic thrush
• unexplained infertility

…are often told everything “looks normal.”

🦠But the reproductive microbiome is one of the most overlooked pieces of the fertility puzzle.

👉🏻Because sometimes the issue isn’t just the embryo…
It’s the environment the embryo is trying to implant into.

Research is increasingly showing links between the vaginal microbiome and:

✨ immune signalling
✨ cervical mucus

🕵️‍♀️And yet many women are never properly investigated for it.

👉🏻One of the biggest fertility shifts I see?

When couples finally start looking deeper instead of being told it’s just “bad luck.”

Primary studies and meta-analyses are now showing that women with more favourable Lactobacillus dominant microbiomes had:

• higher pregnancy rates
• higher live birth rates
• lower miscarriage rates

✨ This doesn’t mean the microbiome is ALWAYS the answer. But it absolutely deserves to be part of the conversation.
