This morning, I had a moment with a client that made me realise the most valuable gift I can give a client as a self employed therapist who sets her own schedule.
Time.
This client was booked at 9:30 for a 40 minute treatment so in my plan, I’d be in the car for the gym at 10:30. Time for us to have a chat about our holidays coming up, consultation, treatment and then integration time before saying goodbye.
It suddenly became apparent that that wasn’t going to work today. This person needed Time. I checked she wasn’t in a rush to be anywhere after her treatment (no point giving time if the person can’t afford it with her own time). Once that was sorted I took off the mental timer.
I gave this client the time she needed. A few extra minutes before we started to talk and be listened to. Only a couple of extra minutes on the table for the treatment but then more time afterwards. As long as she needed to reintegrate before getting off the table. Time to let the treatment sink in. Time to have a chat about real life again before leaving. Time to be ready to face life again.
Time to for this person to breathe.
Time for her to take for herself.
What did it cost her? Nothing more financially than her treatment should have cost.
What did it cost me? An extra 20 minutes of my time that I was more than willing to give.
I’ll never take for granted the difference that not only a good massage can make, but the difference that Time can make. My therapist does the same for me and it is at the heart of everything with The 4Elements Company, I’m learning from the best!
